Pre Sept 2011 towbar won't fit 2011 Facelift Hilux

Hi all,

I have just bought the new facelift model SR5 Duel Cab 3.0L Diesel hilux this month andI have been told by the toyota dealership that the bullbars and towbars made for the 2005 hilux to 2011 sept will not fit the new face lift hilux.

I went down to the local auto pro shop to price out a haymen reese tow bar and ARB bull bar and they say all the mountings are still the same and the pre 2011 sept options will fit. Have gone back to toyota since and they still say it won't fit.

Asked the Auto pro guy to have a look and he does not have any other listings for tow bars or bull bars for the new spec hilux. He stands firm they will fit.

Has anyone had this issue yet or know of this being true.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Far as I am aware it all fits except for the bull bar. The bull bar should fit but requires different fill ins for the gaps as the head light and grill are different and the angle of where the front guards finish are different.

I doubt arb will design a totally different bar, they will just sort out these fill ins. Also heard some talk that even though side steps and rails fit they need to be crash tested before they can say they are air bag ok.

Arb already have new part numbers released for these, just no prices or dates yet!

I've been told the towbar will be right, it's only anything a-pillar forward that's an issues. Basically i'm waiting for arb on the bullbar and snorkel

The towbar may be different for the larger 2500kg towing capacity, or at least maybe the associated paperwork/certificates may be different.

Did ARB give you a guess at delivery on the front bar?
I have also ordered one.

Have you considered the mcc rear bar/towbar, I know they fit as I have on attached to the back of mine already
gonna have to click on the photo to see the bar as I can't make it happen right.

All they told me was that ARB in Melbourne only got their Lux a couple of weeks ago. With the last model, they were able to import 1 3 months before it went on sale here where as this 1 went on sale here in OZ basically straight away so they had to wait like everyone else. Best guess they could give me was 2-3 months.

Gday Stoke em, I had the snorkel fitted today they have been approved to fit for about a week and a half now as for the bullbars ARB still cant give a date but should be before Xmas.

HI guys,
Bought the a haymen reese tow bar 2500kg capacity and fitted perfectly. Toyota genuine were talking about running a harness from the engine bay to the tow bar and were quite expensive compaired to the HR towbar. Spoke to the guy I got the towbar from and he said they have a loom made up that plugs into rear lights. Heaps easier only took about an 1 1/2 hr to install. Run extra cable for brake controller and bought that with the money I saved. Thanks for everyones help and comments. Now to source a bullbar. Might have to wait until ARB brings something out.

I can only go by what I've been told, but it seems the old snorkels 'fit', but it's not a 100% thing. Safari are using ARB's new lux to make the adjustments needed for the new one.

I'm waiting on a ARB sahara bar and flare kit. Still about 6-8 weeks away until they go into production so might be lucky to get it this side of the new year.
