Hey Fellas,

I have a bunch of them here... but they appear to be the wrong type.

We were sent the ISO versions, but it would appear we need the CAN versions.

Bull, they might work on your truck which is a 2008/09?
I'll send you one to test if you like?

I'm going to send these back to have them swapped for the right version, but tit would be good to know if these work on the later model Hilux's.

I import them direct from the US as well.

Cheers
Matty

I'll admit I don't know the difference between ISO and CAN unless you're talking about the CANBUS gauges that all link together and then back to a control module like the Defi brand (amongst others) but we shouldn't need that feature.
So the ones you have now are the original 5 you ordered for the group buy or is this the second batch and is also wrong? Why would you think they might work on my car? Because it's older or newer than the ones you've tried?
Anyhow, send me one up, I'd be happy to test it. I'll email you my address.

Matt,

NOt sure if this will help you but here goes.

I think there are some traps in the OBDII standards. From my understanding CAN was mandatory under the ADR's and had to be supported from January 2008. My December 2007 does not appear to support the protocol. However, internally Toyota was using CAN well before this but appears not to publish it to the diagnostics port.

I have seen a 2010 diesel throw a check engine light. When connecting to the diagnostics it connected using the old protocols (not CAN) even though the interface should have supported CAN. It did not report any errors. This prevented the software from resetting the error (as none existed) so the only recourse was to disconnect the battery which fixed it.

OBDII diagnostics stuff should be able to autodetect the protocol and configure itself accordingly.

Thanks Rod... that makes a lot of sense.

Sent the gauges to Bull today, lets see how they go.

Hey Fellas,

Had no luck with this gauge on Bull's truck.

No time of late to sort this out with the guys in the US... I'll get onto it after Tuff truck.

Should have some pillar pods back in stock then as well.

Cheers

Looking at the Toyota UK site pic's, the curtain airbags are deployed from the b-pillar not the a-pillar.

Hmmmm... Not sure Jack.

To be honest I haven't looked at these for a while.
I still have a bunch of them here, but none of them work with the Hilux though.
I really should pull my finger out and send them back.

No promises here Mate... we will probably get there.

Cheers
