Interested to know what a set of over boots would be worth for a pre '05 Hilux, in particular my 04 model. Also would like to know will they fit over both boots on the CV?

May sound like a noob question, but this is my first 4wd and I'm still working on understanding exactly how an IFS system works. I currently have a 2 inch lift and have no desire to go higher or purchase a set of aftermaket CV's, as I don't drive it that "hard" I just have an issue with the factory boots tearing, at this stage its the side where the CV connects the diff on both CV's.

Cheers,
Dave

You need a diff drop kit.

I dont want to lower my underbody clearance anymore than it is at the moment. I will be investing in a new tough dog kit and free wheeling hubs to pro long the life of them but would still love some other sort of protection to extend their life. Although from continued research I think the over boots for sale here are for their custom CVs only, not just a standard one. So I think I've just answered my own question haha.

Ok, so any update on these RCV shafts, fitment, availability? What's the story? Also is there any news on the other CV shafts you were testing?

Cheers

4wd26 wrote:Max, is there a wide track kit available, or are you working on getting this.

I see this as the ultimate extension of the IFS, but it would need to be done as a total package, as you mention the geometry of the "whole" front end.

obviously not to this extent, but getting the wheels wider of the body will eliminate the tyres fouling on the chassis rails and other benefits, then back to a standard offset in the rims, so track/ clearence would be the same as a hilux with wider offset rims BUT increased range of suspension travel- the ultimate goal

There is a 50mm limit to track increases before you get engineers involved... That includes wheel offsets. Then you need to keep geometry, and the wheel inside the arch... It's a big task.

Yeah but you could increase the arm length for travel and keep track within reason by adjusting wheel offset, or not give a stuff about legalities (see anyone with zero offset rims)
