Nice work on the bullbar, often think about doing that.

Not messing around with the suspension, be good to see it all fitted! Decided what your going to do for the rear yet?

So tyre prices are in, I'm not too sure whether these have been slugged with the MMT (mackay miners tax), added on like everything alse in this town so here they are.. Tyres are 265/75/16

King terra rim, 16x8, Black, $108 ea (All rims, infinity etc are about this price around town)

Wrangler MTR Kevlar $400 ea
Wrangler Duratrac $368 ea
Maxxis Bighorn 764 $349 ea
Bridgestone dueler MT $356 ea

Bridgestones are the most readily avail... they look OK havent heard much about them after searching... the bighorns are quite popular but I also like the Duratrac's :?:

Depends on what you want to do man, you palnning on on-road driving all the time or what?

I used the dura-tracs for abit, they were great on road and werent too bad off-road, though i never fully tested them...

Those prices are not that bad mate, about $20 - $40 per tyre more than I have been quoted in the past - Are you getting the 4 for the price of 3 on the Goodyear’s?

I guess it also depends on how long you want the tyres to last for?
The bridgestone would last the longest out of them, yet less effective off-road!

After the exercise of speaking and emailing customs and a freight handling company here is the (pretty close) final price I can come up with for importing a set of wheels. Please feel free to correct me if im wrong..I won't be embarassed ... much :? ...and if anyone wants the info feel free to email and I will forward the address as well as the charges chart I was sent. I am led to believe that GST is charged on the Australian charges as marked with an ast(*)

Wheels US$122 ea. 5 for US$610 AUD$578
Postage US$410 AUD$390

Then for customs clearance fees AUD$125*

Airport handling fees AUD$145*
plus $0.39/kg AUD$23.40*

Electronic docket fee AUD$25*
CMR fee (whats this?) AUD$25*

Total charges AUD$343.40*
Total charges +GST AUD$377.74

SO the total is $1345.40 for 5 wheels that cost US$122 each in the US.... or $269 each in Aus dollars.

Which basically takes them from US$122 to US$283. :o :o :( :(

So i'm off to order black sunnies which was plan A after all...

Bolted wheels on today even though havent fitted the Rekon yet. (2 weeks away). Went with Wrangler MT's. Took the mudflaps off the front and they haven't rubbed yet with normal town driving. Also had the rear alloy bar powdercoated a while back... getting there slowly..

not sure who u talked to, but customs and taxes only come into effect when the cost of goods exceeds $1000. psotage is not counted.
ive bought plenty of items from overseas and have recently had some rims sent from the uk. most of ur fees are pretty much on the mark, the clearance fees, and duties.
but the problem was the inital amount being under $1000 and someone telling u that u had to pay customs on it
