Well I've finally got a bit of time to start a build thread or should i say a BUILT thread as i did alot of my major mods a couple of years ago. Doing this thread to keep track of what I've done (and where I've gone wrong!) and to document the trips i go on.. will be plenty of Pics.
But now its time for round 2 as i need to fix/upgrade a few things. Mainly smaller mods that have been bugging me. But afew bigger things also.
I use my lux offroad nearlly every weekend and try to do at least 3 big trips a year so she is deffinatley gets used and has the scars to show it!!

ROUND 2:

Soften rear suspension for more flex (used to have canopy & draws so running heavy duty leafs)
New brakes all round
Exhaust and headers (MR )
Rear quarter panel chop and raise ARB rear bar to suit (Gonna have to mod the shit out of that ARB grader bar!!)
Fit a water tank somewhere
Better interior lights
second battery and lights in the rear gullwing tool box
Snorkel
K&N filter
Find out where all the squeaks, squells and clunks are coming from..

Oh yeah.. it's a May 2005 build SR5 V6

Finally got around to doing the back seat mod.. I can't believe how much wasted space there was back there, not just on the ground but vertically also.
I cable tied an elastic net to the back of the seat for even more storage room. I am actually struggling to fill the space back there...

Back there i put the picnic blanket, tripod, bog rolls, snatch strap, shackles, tie down straps, air hose, 30 Meter winch extension, tree trunk protector, dampener blanket, maps and theres still loads of room.
Would love to put some sort of water storage back there but the splashing would annoy the shit out of me

Great idea on the cargo net!
I've got all my stuff just jammed in tightly back there to minimise rattling.
Got my project for next weekend now.

mate took me a while to find but try all the auto stores and marine/boating shops.

Wish I was able to do the rear seat mod but with one young one and another on the way will still be a few years

I've got the baby seat in the back mate and having this mod done makes it a hell of a lot easier getting it in and out.
I just loosen the seat belt and the strap on the baby seat, flip the rear seat down and then easy access to the bolt to unclip strap.
Is a bit tricky flippin it down to get a snatch strap with my lil girl in the seat though

I am waiting on a 50L water bladder to arrive (mounts on the rear wall behind the seat) in the post so will be interesting to see if I can get a net in behind there as well. great idea Jake.

Spent a bit of time on the Lux this weekend..
Lowered the rear by taking out a leaf (thanks to Brendan from Ultimate on advice on which spring to remove)
Wow what a difference!! i have a level truck again, cornering is soo much better and off road is a lot more comfortable. Went for a quick run up the hills and noticed the knocking sound that was haunting me has gone.. so I'm thinking the rear shocks must of been bottoming out with the heavy duty leafs at full stretch?!...

For the record the leafs i have are ARB Heavy duty CSO45R and i removed the third spring..

Couple weeks ago i did the Ultimate brake upgrade with DBA slotted discs and new 4WD pads up front.
Today i did the rear shoes also.. Had never done shoes before so was a bit tricky, but will be easy next time.
Can't believe how much crap collects in that rear drum.There wash just a thick caking of slushy crap in everything!!
Gonna have to make it a regular check every couple months to take the drum out and spray a can of brake cleaner in there.
Old shoe next to new one, where pretty worn to one side...


Replacing these combined with lowering the rear has really helped my braking and the hand brake feals great..

Hmmm, got the same spring pack......unless I'm carrying 4 or 5 hundred kgs in the back, well it is a bit iffy.Sorely tempted to do something about it.

Yeah i was in the same boat and as my Lux has semi retired as a work hack thought it a good thing to do.
The Heavy duty leafs are good for just that.. heavy duty loads, but unless your under constant load Forget about it!!
