Random question here..
Because your ute is modplated for bigger tyres, brakes, differentials etc.. does that mean you can legally tow more than a stock hilux could? Eg. 2500kg+ ?

Cheers. Kieran

Good question, something I've never thought about to be honest. But no, in my case the GVM hasn't changed, and I believe it would be quite hard to get that engineered higher as I've gone from leaf springs to coils, and it's still the Hilux chassy.

Thanks mate. It was a big decision for me and never thought I'd actually let it go. But I'm not regretting the decision and have a few things planned for my partner and I.

May be a bit off topic but as far as price

Is it cheaper to do it this way

Or the way the other bloke did it with a patrol chassis?

I know either way there still going to be expensive and time consuming

Be nice to know how long the whole process took

But that lux of yours is very unique looks great!

I am just about to start my SAS conversion now and to be honest you can't really do it on the cheap. As it stands it will cost about 9-10K for the front and only about 3-4K for the rear. Things add up real quick, quick run down for the front SAS conversion.

SAS kit, custom steering components and custom super flex arms - $2850
Fox shocks 2.5 10" coil overs W/dual rate springs - $2700
Complete front diff for parts - $350
Custom made front diff - $1200
Custom panhard rod, tie rod and drag link - $1000
Nuts, bolts, bearing kits,Custom length brake lines, seals and diff rebuild - $1000

That is pretty generalised but you will get why it still costs a fair bit.

Makes the Buds Customs SAS kit that Toddie's build was based on sound pretty good value at $7,500... Covers just about everything in the list above except the donor parts and diff gears.

Where is that $7500 figure from? Last I heard buds was still $10k plus.
