Josh,

Sounds like an awesome trip... glad to hear it all went to plan and you had a ball.
Some great pictures you posted Mate... Quality.

This is a great shot of a very well set up touring package... the stance is spot on for a tough tourer.

And this is a cracker of a shot... Love it

Where to next Mate... ? You mentioned the Simpson in about a years time, but where will you head to next in the interim?

Cheers
Matt

Looks like you had an awesome time.

I am heading up there for 4 nights from Victoria on the 2nd of september.

We will be catching the ferry over about 3pm to in skip point? Where do you recommend we stay for the first night?

I also want to head up to the tip, and stay a night up there, carree or diray? Did you see any of them?

Are most of the touristy busses gone by night time?

Thanks
Mitch

Hey Mitch, um inskip is probably the "hardest" place to get on and off but not difficult by any means. I got off there no dramas what so ever.

As to where to stay it all depends on how many your travelling with and how much room you need. I can point out the campsites we stayed at if you like?? Probably easer if i docted up a map and showed you on here. Do you need any facilities for the first night ie toilets and showers?

We stayed at ocean lake which is the northern most campsite with toilets. Although the toilets are about 1km up a sandy track beside a lake. We chose there because I have a coleman hot water shower that we used the fresh water from the lake for. It is just beautiful!! You cant see the water (protected by a line of trees and a sand hill) but it blocks the wind which is good.

When we got up there high tide was around sunset so yes by the time it was dark it was to hard to pass and all the tourist busses were gone. It didnt stop some people from trying though. All the day trippers that come on to fish stay till the sun goes down as thats the best time and then race the tide back. Some VERY close calls.

Cool mate. When you say Inskip is the hardest? What makes it so hard? Haha

Yeah we will be 2 ute and 2 couples. Leaving the old mans place tumbulgum northern nsw about 8am to make the ferry onto Fraser about 2/3pm

Sounds like central may be our best bet for the first night.

Here is a good map I have been using for Fraser. If you would mind using paint and chucking up some numbers of where you stayed each night.

Ocean lake sounds great man. That might be our destination also. Sounds nice.

Thanks for your help mate.
Mitch

We certainly had a great time Mr MR. Will be going back for sure.

Not sure where to next. Ive got my usual trips out to Lake St Clair (Singleton) over summer for wakeboarding etc but ill be trying to make a few trips with the boys on here definitely.

Haha I know that feeling all to well. Um you cant drive to the lighthouse (no idea how long you havent been able to do this) but you most certainly can walk up there. But after a weeks worth of drinking and having the lux do all the hard work the 1.2km walk up there almost killed me

Inskip was only the hardest because you got on and off the barge on sand. Both Kingfisher bay and wanggoolba creek exits (that both leave from river heads) are drive on and off on concrete.

Ill try and paint up that map today sometime but Ive gotta jet now and actually do some work so If i get the chance ill have a go and post it up for you.

Hey Josh just scanned through your build and you have a very equipped lux mate :D
When I get round to the tyre and wheel upgrade I might come check out your combo before I buy if that's ok(won't be for a while). I'm on a wife imposed hilux modification ban until she gets a new car lol... Working 6 days. Don't have time to get out anyway. The BFG MT KM2's are what I was looking to run myself anyway. I was also looking to do the Prado brake upgrade and part of my reason for staying with 17's as I have now. The stock brakes suck bad and it's definitely a upgrade I want to get done. It would be good to actually talk to someone that's done what I want to do before doing it and as you in the same state hopefully when I get time to do these mods I can come have a chat.

Good to see your Fraser pics to. Went up there with a mate and his dad back in high school days when I was 16 n love to take my own family up there in time, seeing your pics brought back some memories.
Ben.

It can get pretty cool up at Barrington tops, some photos from a couple of years ago, got up through before they locked the gate. At 1pm it was -4 still.

Hey mate sorry I've been MIA for a while.

They are from BIAS boating. I think auto one are stocking them now as well. I got them cause they are marine LEDs so are fully waterproof.

Thanks mate.

So today is a big day for me. Today I pick up my new VDJ76R landcruiser.

So in about a month or so this hilux will be up for sale. In all honesty I will be very sad to see it go but it's time for a change and I need the greater towing capacity of the landcruiser.

Who ever buys my Lux will be virtually getting the car itself for free. That's how much I have spent on this truck over the last 5 years.

But in the meantime I have one last trip planned in her then will be getting it ready for sale.

I'll put a few pics up of the new beast when I pick it up this arvo.

Cheers, Josh
