Maybe just a thought Chris, have a look at the canopy on the last page of my build. Still allows you to carry timbers, ladders, pipes, screeds etc. When travelling will not effect aerodinamics at all, only a few mods needed to current canopy. Takes 40secs to setup if left on truck Legit ;)

fyi, we've pretty much dropped the idea of a RTT. They're convenient, but they big and heavy too. We wanna keep the weight down as much as possible

Yeah I see what you mean Craig but for an extended trip where you are moving everyday you dont get much better. They are really quick and easy and very comfortable. And when your up the Cape you dont have your missus hassling you about crocodiles all night. Ive seen those racks before but dont think they would suit me.

Not wrong there Kyle. Have you used the Malamoo much yet? How do you find it?

Yeah I like that set up Ross. Might look into it a bit. Do you have anymore detailed photos and when its packed up?

Cheers,

Chris.

The Malamoo is what it is, it quick and easy and the 3 man Ive got allows a double matress inside. The down side is it lets a lot of condensation in and theres no sleeping in come first light. For about $150 and instant pop up I cant complain. I have the light green colour as that was the only stock left. The darker colours would be a bit better IMO.

if we were 2 up, we'd prob stick with the RTT, but we'll be 4 up for most of the touring, so needed something better

All good mate. Those racks would be good but because my canopy is on and off so often I need to setup a rack on both the canopy and cab roof.

You would be surprised how much comfort you can fit in these things Rod. Mines got an ensuite and walk in robe. As well as the penthouse suite with 270degree scenic views.

Cheers,

Chris.

   mate I knew your set up was top shelf. I've seen your ensuite and climbed up on top of your tray to wittness the views, even had to duck under tree branches as you husstled down tracks in search of heater fuel

too funny guys

Chris, you could always get/make another box. Or just add a removable rear rack?

Chris, thanks for the tips. With your legs fitted into your canopy to jack off do they require you to use both mounting points on the canopy :?:

No worries Kyle, any time. Not sure what you mean mate? I've made the leg brackets pick up both holes per corner for extra stiffness when jacked up. Not sure how much difference it makes compared to one though. Does that answer your question?

Cheers,

Chris.

Winch out again. Another buggered solenoid I think. This time the control box is going under the bonnet. I'll pull the motor down again for a look to.

Image

I got fairly wedged last weekend and the winch would have made the recovery much faster and easier had it worked. Tray was jammed against a rock and the front was hung up on another rock.
