Next up is nothing to exciting, I went for a trip into Bendigo arb and got myself an arb compressor and hose kit, some arb colour coded fibre glass flares, wasnt really excited about the fibre glass idea but they were there and in the right colour so I took them home with me anyway. Once home I opened the box and took a look, they didnt impress me much the way they were to be fitted up and the paint job wasnt the most impressive. So I took them back and exchanged them for a safari snorkle. As for flares I rang up utemart and had them at my door the following week, much happier with these being plastic and fitting is so much better, these screw straight in the exsisting holes.

One day when I get motivated I would like to plumb up the compressor fittings to the bullbar somewhere maybe so I dont have to pop the bonnet each time I need to use the compressor. Just got to decide how to keep that clean of dust, water, mud etc being on the bullbar. Wouldn't mind fitting a 2nd one to the tray aswell so the hose reaches any trailer im towing.

When I fitted the snorkle I also filled the drain hole in the air box with some silicon.

Epic build Mitch.
Especially like the way you do all the work yourself.

Finally ive got off my butt and putting these ARB bar lift photos up which a few people have asked for. Jumping ahead a bit in the order of the build of my hilux but not to long ago I put a 50mm body lift under it. Apart of doing this includes having to lift the bar up 50mm also. Got my idea on the best way to go about it from here viewtopic.php?f=41&t=4691&start=20 . Ive got a few photos of it once it was done but none of before I started, ooops. Hard to explain this one even with photos unless you hop under your own and have a look what im talking about.

Started by obviously taking the bullbar off, cut the welds on the crush tube on the bar (obvouisly on the end closest to the ute). I got the hammer and punch and marked on each side where the crush tubes were welded, so once cut off and measured exactly 50mm up to match the body lift, marked again with the punch to know where to weld them back on. As the crush tube is not a straight face all the way up, it angles back towards the ute at the top, I had to make some plates to support the crush tube at the top, these are in the green areas in the photo's. I did one side at a time so you can always look back on the first one to make sure you have everything inline and on the right angles so the bar isnt facing up in the air and or looking down once finished.

Inside the green outlines are the parts I added in, red arrow shows which way I it has moved ( 50mm ).

And more photos to just to help show what ive done

Now the bar sits as it should with the body, have since fitted a winch and it everything works fine and is strong enough to accomadate for the winch under pressure
