ken, the underbody protection plates are from TJM and the front one cost 180 bux and the rear transmission guard costs the same amount.

I fitted the ARB bar tonight, maaaate, what a job. brackets and bolts bloody everywhere. Look good thou, and unfortunately its dropped the front abit.

The plates that go underneath the "wings" on the edges of the bullbar will have to get modified tomorrow to make clearance for the tyres when turning, as its sits abit lower now.

Im thinking about getting a half to 3/4 of an inch spacer made up and put ontop of the strut to get some of the lost height from the bullbar.

will let ya's know how I go and post some pic hopefully tomorrow if I get round to it.

Ah, "TUFF IFS LUX" is back.
I think you can buy some spacers from ARB but not that thick.

Looks different in black.
Have you mounted the bullbar right up against the body panels?, if its to close when you take it off road and the body twists it will hit.

10mm is the only spacers arb carry. Try http://www.4wd1.com/coil_spring_spacers1.htm
they don`t list the lux but maybe worth a go.

Mmaax, as much as I've enjoyed watching the progress of your new machine, have you checked with your insurance company to make sure all these mods are legit?

(Tyres exceed the original load rating but speed rating is way below)

Also, be a little careful if you go for the Chip conversion, you could void warranty.

Hey Fella's,

Thanks for the positive replies . Just went out to a few paddocks down some backroads near home with me daughter and thought I'd break her in before offroading this weekend with a few slow manouvers and some flex shots. Also, I wanted to see how much flex I got until the tyres hit anywhere, if they did that is.

I was really impressed with how much flex she has, as you can see from the pics below.

And would you beleive it, thou you may not be able to tell in the pics, but it just missed everything. Including the front. I reckon the tyre was about 5mm away from the chassis/body mount that was giving me problems at the start when the steering wheel turned and her flexed up and the rear just tucked up into the guards beautifully.

I think I'll leave the rear as is, and just put a small coil spacer on the front to get back what I lost with the bar fitment and she'll be right

;)

Those factory sidesteps are absolutely crap. They hang 2 inches too low and limit you offroad unless you want to damage them.

What are the best if any, slider brands out there, that is if anybody makes em for the hilux yet>?

As a side note, the ARB "Protection Steps" from their Darwin store are a tad over $1000!

I did not get them but where about $950.00 about four months ago. They where out of stock for about a month so had some made. Mine are longer than all the others and cover the whole sill length, there's a curve in the sill at each end which does not normally get protected, front and back. I went over the same hump and hit again with bigger tyres and sliders, hit but no problems.

Doug67 , the sliders that you have in the 3rd photo , are they different to the one's that you have on the Lux ?
It's just in that photo , it seems to have 4 mount points and in the other photo it seems to have 2 points .
Trying to find a good solid set to buy , even considered just getting my boiler-maker to make up a set .
Cheers

Mine has three mount points. There's a photo of Roly's, Norm C's and mine. Norm C's best for strength I would say. Have a look through the search section on sliders.
