Mine was done with our little gasless 150 mig. (out of welding gas at the time)
Gas is so much better, easier and neater to do the job.

Bodymount Chop

How thick would you say the metal is? Might have a go at some practice pieces with the 195 MIG we have at work.

Done some trimming and hammering of the quarter panel and flare....(wish i could put pics up) i got pretty carried away on the first side i did :? now might have to go shopping for some plastic to put back on and some sealent perhaps hahaha. 2nd side went alot smoother :) next is to wiggle a grinder in and perform a body mount chop. fingers crossed i can still drive it by the time im done hacking at it :?

Fitting your bodylift at the same time? Its a hole easier to get the grinder in once the body is raised, also good to have mount blocks/rubbers out while doing it.

Must be planning on some big rubber?

Cheers, Mitch

How are you guys getting the rubber blocks out for welding (so they don't melt)
Are you slightly jacking the cab from the chassis?

I think you would be able to jack it up just a tad to be able to get it out but I'm but I'm not sure since I fitted my bodylift at the same time so it was out anyway. It doesn't really have to come out, maybe better if it did though?

I never took mine out, was just care ful with the whole thing.
My only problem was when I welded a section back on, there was a few times when some smoke started happening because it got too hot

I decided to remove the body mounts as I wanted it to look as genuine as you could get and didnt want to risk them starting to melt. I used your method amitch888 worked a treat. A bit of time spent grinding and sanding, you wouldn't know they didn't come out of the factory like that.
Great effort
thanks.

Just out of curiosity, does the piece cut out have to be welded back for strength or looks. Could it be left out?

Plenty have left it out but I think it's better welded back in again.

Welding back in just makes it look more like a stock mount!
