2010 SR5 Hilux, Dual Cab, Turbo Diesel (Tidal Blue).

As some of you already know I sold my VE HSV Clubsport Tourer for this so I will definitely be using it for what it's made for :D I Take delivery next Friday 6th August, can't wait to begin my 4wd adventures with my mates finally!

Here is a pic of it sitting at the dealer the other night:
Image

Currently at ARB having fitted:
- OME 50mm Lift / Suspension upgrade
- Safari Snorkel

After that, it's heading over to Bob Jane for
- Allied Wheels Tomahawk 16" rims
- BFG Mud Terrain 265/75/16 tyres.
all in stock and waiting apparently!

And approx around the 21st August it will be heading back again for...
- ARB Sahara Bull bar (colour coded, 3 week wait).
- IPF 900 spotties with clear covers (fitted once bull bar comes in).
- ARB Premium Recovery kit (free which was nice)

Anyway I will keep you all updated.... :D

Regards
Matt

Thanks Steve, haha yeah definitely mate! They have great feedback I've been reading the thread!

I'd probably get a chip first to help the economy & power with the bigger tyres as I'm worried it might be a bit sluggish...

Congratz on your new car purchase. The recovery kit was a nice addition. I just get a full tank of juice and a reasonable price. It feels like forever when your waiting for everything to move along. You'll be able to start a shed now ;) The wheels are nice, can't wait to see them fitted.

Have you looked at those Acro HIDs lights? Their 6" and not restrictive of airflow, but price compared to IPF lights is higher, but so is the quality. I have them, Rahrah and his mate bought some as well. Muchly recommended.

Shaker, the most enjoyable time of owning your lux is when you get through the precious stage and you start using for what it is made for. I just had a look at your shed, that first pic of yours looks like it should have a christmas tree over it

Matt your truck is looking great, those rims and rubber work well with the colour.
On the internet you can be anything you want. It is strange that so many people choose to be stupid!

  BUHAHAHAHA!!! It's xmas ever day if I had my way. The recovery straps were the tinsel, I just rolled them up. The chrome wheel nuts were a nice sparkling edition to the tree too

But seriously, mud gets into everything including the brakes. If I can avoid mud I will. I'd like to cut maintenance back as much as possible and was probably wondering the same for the OP :?:

People buy things for different reasons. Mine is a 4x4 tourer with some bush work and even more camping thrown in, others buy them to get down and dirty. I will one day, but for now I want it shiny  Lets see how long it takes for this one to get dirty hehe.

Too right, no mucking around with this one Alby. Took her out in the dirt before she was even 1 day old :D

Started off with some easy off-road driving around my local blue mountains national park :)

Heading up the mountains a little more and daylight turned to darkness.. and shat myself a few times trying to get back out of this hill climb!

Matt you couldnt have picked a better wheel and tyre package. How stoked are ya? It looks f**kin fantastic well done mate im glad you listened to me.

How did you go with rubbing on the front bumper? Anything?

I done some serious 4wding this weekend and the tyres performed fantastic, i was really impressed. The truck is just so capable and i had no rubbing anywhere that i could tell. Did you find the same?

Thanks Johnny! Exactly the same - Very very happy with it mate, already done about 150kms+ of offroad over the weekend! I just got back from doing a challenging trip today (similar terrain to what you just posted up in your thread, a bit of everything) and loved it mate, tyres and suspension performed excellent. I was running 25 psi though and think i could quite possibly run even a little less. No scrubbing issues the whole time, besides a little here n there on the front bumper like you said may happen but the bull bar will illuminate that.

I am glad you talked me into these wheels. Just like you i'm getting a lot of people asking about the them! Good to have something different 8-) Thanks heaps for your help mate!

Here are some pictures from today, taken up at ZigZag / clarence for those that know the place.... Note this is my first proper trip and my first 4wd which is only 2 days old, so took it easy most of the day with a mate who is well experienced and taught me a lot. Was a great day out!

By the way, it's been unbelievable on fuel. I've been getting an average of 8.6L/100kms today. Did around 215kms total of the trip and 100 of it was roughly off road, 20% low range, 80% high range. Very impressed... speedo is slightly out though which may effect the figures slightly.

Heres another picture I found kinda cool with the brother in law's classic hilux and my new one in the background!
