G'day guys, I thought you might be interested in my new project.

It is a 06, turbo diesel, auto. I pick it up a couple of months ago stock standard and have started the mods to improve it a bit.

I started off just adding a few basic things window tint, and rhino roof racks. I brought the window tint as a kit off ebay for only 80 bucks. I had never tinted a car before but thought I would give it a go. Turned out to be really easy. The kit arrived with all windows already cut to size, and full detailed instructions. I would highly recommend it to anyone willing to give it a go. Finsh product was top class, and i saved a heap of cash in the process.

I then added a ironman suspension kit, which gave a 3 inch lift in the front and a 2 in lift in the rear. Really happy with the result has leveled the car up nicely. Haven't had it offroad yet as only had it done 2 days ago, so i will report on the results in the coming weeks.

Lastly I added a set of 265x75x16 MTZ's, on a new Advanti rim called a "Rockstar". I deceided on this rim as I thought it looked the goods, but it is also a zero offset, so it suited the hilux well.

Future mods include:

Front bar either a ARB delux or a OL tube bar, (mmaxx I have been following the progress closely!!!!!!)
snorkel
engine chip
3 inch exhaust
canopy.

Hope you enjoy the pics

thanks mmaxx,

I thought they looked the goods. Really well priced as well, at only $250 a rim. I have had Mickey DC1's before in black that I liked and considered for this one, but the -12 offset put me off a bit. Wanted to try and aviod rubbing. Especially for when I get sick of the 265's and decide to step up to 285's ha ha ha.

looking forward to seeing your bodylift go in mate, as it will be no doubt something I will be keen on once I see a few getting done.

Nice and straight for an 06 model Murf. Even the side steps look straight. I look forward to seeing the progress.

Thanks for that Boof, I am really happy with the hilux, the power from the diesel is nice. But as always everything can always be made better!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When the bank account recovers from the latest additions i will be looking for a engine chip and a exhaust upgrade.

Speaking exhausts, I have noticed the standard pipe would be at least a 2 inch if not bigger. Has anyone just removed the standard "huge" muffler and ran something a bit more free flowing to get a few gains? I am sure I have seen it mentioned on here somewhere.......... any info would be much appreacited CHEERS

yea murf6,
on my 07 lux i had the muffler removed and just had a new straight through 2.5" exhaust added. So i came out with no muffler!

Slight improvement with preformance (gives turbo more breathering space) and gives a nice deep sound to it....
for $120 i am happy with such a small mod.

G'day guys,

I have the possibility of picking up a second hand ARB winch bar for my ute. The only issue is I believe it came off a SR model. Does anyone know how dirrerent if will be around the flares. I believe the bar will be a bit narrower than the SR5 bar. Can anyone confirm this, and if so is there any option of modifying it to suit the extra width.............?????

If it's off an SR it will be narrower and it won't fit around your flares. As for modifing to suit, I'm not an expert on modifications but I wouldn't be comfortable with changing the structural integrity of the winch bar (bending to clear the flares or cutting and adding extra width). You'll make the bar weaker by mod'ing it and defeat the purpose of having it there in the first place.

G'day guys,

I just picked myself up a razorback canopy for my lux. Got it for what I think is a great price of $350......
Hasn't even been used. The person who brought it decidedd to go the ARB option instead of the steel of the razorback. Will have to get it painted but beside that hopefully it wont be a bad thing. Wasn't my first chioce of canopy, but for the price was a bit hard to go past.......... Has anyone got any comments regarding the razorback, good or bad? Picking it up tommorrow so will be intered to see what it is like, as I haven't seen one in the flesh as yet...................

Had a razorback for a while now mate- all good. The only cons were that it has sliding windows. I actuallyneed sliding windows to cart the dog around. It just annoys me sometimes whilst camping.

Also, the roof rails aren't too long which makes ya cross bar be quite close and if you have anything rigid hanging back too far the top of the hatch will contact it when you open it up. Can still be used effectively, but you just need to be aware of it. I reckon they look pretty good too with no ugly black strip around it due to the overhanging lip around it.

Cheers,

Daniel

Crosssport supplies and fits Razorbacks. I know others have opinions about these canopies and I'm sure they'll let you know. ;)

I don't think you will go too far wrong with the canopy for that price.

As far as the SR bar on the SR5, it depends if it is a deluxe bar or a commercial bar. The commercial bar is generally an in between width for the SR and SR5.
