nazndave's Build

Hi Guys,

Well it has finally arrived after 3 months of waiting I picked up my new xtra cab.

While waiting for the delivery I have been monitoring this forum picking up ideas and working out what and how I was going to modify mine.

My goal is to build a very capable tourer. I plan to put a carry me camper from Candy canvas on the tray or something similar haven't completely decided yet.

Before taking delivery I had the following accessories fitted:

Heavy Duty Alloy Tray
ARB Winch Bar
Warn Winch
ARB Side Steps
Safari Snorkel
140L Long Range Tank
Front and Rear Lockers

As I prefer to run the wiring and locker airline myself I asked them to just fit the winch and lockers and I will complete the rest of the setup.

While waiting for the new lux to arrive I invested in a 5 x CSA Subb RV 16 x 7 wheels with +20mm offset and wrapped them in 265/75 x 16 MTZ's. This was in preparation for the ultimate suspension kit that will be going in.

In the communications dept I have an ICOM 440 to be installed.

Thanks mmaaxx, I can't wait to get my hands dirty this weekend and start setting up some of the gear. I have so many ideas that I have gathered from this forum over the past couple of months and I am trying to work out where to start.

Well guys it is time for an update. Sorry it has been a while since I originally posted however I have been rather busy with work and House renovations.

I dropped it off with Ken at Ultimate Suspension to have the lift all fitted. The actual fitting only took a couple of days however trying to get an engineer out to give it the good to go was proving a little more difficult with recent events with the VSI50. There does not seem to be many engineers that want to touch it.

From the engineers report I walked away with 4 defects and funny enough none of them concerned the suspension.

1. Oil Leak from front Diff courtesy of Wentworthville ARB.
2. Rear Mud flaps that were not long enough. (Apparently they were not long enough for the stock vehicle).
3. Rear Indicators were set to far under the tray and were not able to be seen on an angle.
4. Speedometer was out. (Nata Certification Required)

None of them were major it just took a bit of running around to get them fixed.

As of yesterday I should have my Engineers Certificate in the Mail.

I would like to say a big thank you to Ken from Ultimate who helped me sort out all of the issues and followed it all the way to the end.

In the next couple weeks I am hoping to get a couple of weekends free to complete the wiring and installation of:

Air Locker Compressor
Driving Lights
Outlets for Fridge behind Drivers Seat
Alpine Audio System
RedArc Dual Battery System

Mate, you have got to be happy with that. Looks unreal ! well done

Good to see you got engineers approval also, i was going to chase one up and do the same. Would you recommend the one that you used?

Alby, Yes I would recomend him, he was a little tough, however with the current state of the regulations he wanted to make sure everything was in order to protect himself as an RTA Approved Engineer and Me as the owner of the vehicle. I will PM you with his details.
