Ive had mine for sale in the classified sectio for a while...we could have worked something out.....doesnt matter.....its just sitting in the garage at the moment....as much as I loved the sound and the chubby it gave me driving the hilux.....I didnt want to risk getting pulled over by the law and getting shafted for it......epa fines are pretty expensive.....

that being said, thats not a gurantee that it wont go back on one day in the future again.... ;) I miss it. :(

Another thing im working on atm is making the brakes work better, ive ordered new DBA slotted 4000 series rotors with Bendix HD pads should be in on monday hopefully fit them during the week.
Ive also been playing around with the rear brakes as i have found that they didnt work real well, untill now. A test i preformed was raise the diff on some axel stands and start the car and let it idle in first gear and press the brake pedel. As i suspected it didnt even load up the motor.

I cant remember who posted that test on this forum but it works well. Thanks who ever came up with the idea.

I then manually adjusted the drums with the brake adjusting tool through the top hole (first removeing the rubber grommet) in the back ot the drum. Then preformed the test again. It did make a differance to the load on the motor, it also adjusted my hand brake from 11 clicks to about 4. :D

Still it wasnt enough to be around 30% of braking preformance, so i then extened the LSVP rod higher with a piece of threaded 25mm long rod i had, it then was about about 50mm from where it was at standard height before i lifted the lux. Which would make sence as i lifted the rear of the lux 2inches. Once again i preformed the above test now this did make a real differance to the load on the motor to what i thought would be around 30%.

Now this is a theory i had, at standard height i recon the drum brake self adjusters work as the lsvp valve has the correct amount of braking prefomance to move the adjusters. Now once we lift our luxes we dont move the LSPV valve rod high enough eg: 50mm lift = move the LSPV valve arm 50mm higher. Previosly i had it set to the top of the standard rod, now the LSPV arm is around 20mm higher than the standard rod.

The real test was on the road, straight away there was a huge preformance gain. The lux pulled up so much harder than it did before.

Cheers for that KTM

My mechanic mate did tell me something about moving the LSPV valve, might ask about it while they have it tomorrow, its handy knowing a service manager. hopefully they can sort something out. If not the only person that does the job right is yourself.

Another update to the lux is my JVC KW-AVX826 dvd player. This model has the hands free bluetooth like the standard hilux one but works and connects soooooo much better. The main reasons i bought it was i wanted a reverse camera coz reversing the big lux in a small carpark was a pain in the a@#e. Also the factory bluetooth was giving me the s@#ts.

Another thing ive been meaning to do is get some pics up for a member (Drew84) who wanted to see how i sealed under my hardlid, so it dosent leak water or dust in. Sorry Drew that ive taken so long. All the seals and rubbers i sourced from Clark Rubber.
In the first pic i replaced the toyota seal (which didnt seal very well) with a thicker high dencity foam / rubber. It has adhesion on the back so you just pull off the paper and stick it where you want it. The size of foam / rubber is 10mm thick x 24mm wide.
Image

Here is how i sealed the tailgate using a push on style rubber seal.
Image

These are the 3 types of seals i used:

The far Left is a lower dencity foam / rubber, (easier to compress) the dimentions of that one is 12mm thick x 24mm wide. I used that for under the infill panels of the roll bar.

The middle one is the stuff i used to seal the hard lid and a bit under the rollbar infill panels which was the higher dencity foam / rubber (harder to compress) which measured 10mm thick x 24mm wide.

The last pic is the push on style rubber seal for the tailgate.
Image

This is under the roll bar infill panel, its not a real good photo because its hard to show, but you can just see the seal under there.

Have you decieded on your new wheel and tyre combo mate......? I would also be interested in hearing your thoughts about the muffler being replaced with pipe with your exhaust.... ;)
