I've bit the bullet

Postby Macca on Fri, 08 May 2009 3:31 +0000

Got my kruds and added a bit from my secret stash, ordered a pair of ARB airlockers today, followed up with an order for a set of Cooper STT 265/75R16 10 ply tyres to replace my battered ST that have done at least 65000 - 70000klm.

Even told Mrs Woman..... and I dont have a bruise on my body or a sore ear from being nagged

Must be mothers day soon

Have a difficult trip behind Moorland about 1/2 an hour from here at the end of this month. The trip leader has a very capable Nissan and he is putting a front locker in next week in time for his trip.

It's going to be interesting

Should have mine done in a week and a half so will be ready for some action after that.

Then back to Coff's, where I said I would never go again, for the June long weekend. Will take it easy this time and not break anything. Looking forward to that trip as it is a beautiful place.

There are alternate tracks if the jats crackers aren't big enough

If I'm put under pressure from the wee lassy I'm going to blame mmaaxxyy any way.....   ;) ;) ;)

Congrats on your new purchase Mr and Mrs Macca.
You will love your return tour of Coffs in the new setup. Make sure you post up plenty of pics.
Coffs lockers and muddies are three words that do bring a smile to my face when used in the one sentence.

Dont forget to enjoy that fantastic campground, and chuck away any memories from the last trip.
Have fun Iain and Pauly, I'm sure you will.
Cheers

Good stuff Macca, I'm glad your spending a bit of money on the Lux of your life.............that means your not selling her!

Look out Coffs :)
On the internet you can be anything you want. It is strange that so many people choose to be stupid!

I finally got to go out in the scrub and try out the toys, 8-) 8-)

We did stacks of high speed runs looking for the tracks we were after so kept the pressures at "highway"

Found an overgrown track that we bulldozed our way through, had lots of fallen trees to clear with the chainsaw or step over, ripped the speedo cable out of the plug on the side of the gearbox :!: :!: We made our way to the destination in L2 without a slip, those STT tyres are very good :D :D

All cars had STT's an old Hilux and a 100series (live axel) had worn, a GQ and I had new tyres.

On another track we were using L1 alot we had a nasty little steep hill to climb, the GQ & I were last up the now ripped up track, He had 4 goes to get up, this bloke can drive and his truck goes any where. I was not feeling confident, engaged the lockers L2 and drove straight up without much throttle and no wheelspin or hop, fantastic.
And avoided a big rock that everyone else hit their diffs on, can not believe the difference.

Great value

That's the beauty of the lockers.

It actually gives true meaning to the word 4 wheel drive if you have diff locks front and rear.
