Thats a sexy looking canopy...now Im eager as.

question....I got those plastic tabs on the side of my tub which held the tonneau cover down.....is there any way to get body colour plugs or anything like that for the holes if I remove them or will they have to stay put?

not fussed either way.

anybody reading this, if your interested in a black SR5 sportsbar and a 2 month old tonneau cover...reasonably cheap and all good nick, let me know. ;)

DUTE, how much weight can those roof racks hold?

reckon they could hold a small rhino rack on them?

might make up some fishing rod holders to go up there....

Max, thought you said a hilux with a canopy does not look tough!

This style of canopy are usually rated for 80 kg. The downside is the rails are very short so you probably need another rail on the roof to be useful. That gets exy, 'cos you need to put the tracks on the roof.

Nah, I didnt say that, the missus did...Im hoping to change her mind and perception on the subject.....

hopefully the rig still ends up looking good afterwards...looking at DUTES, I reckon it will.

I reckon they look tough without canopies but once you've had one you'd never be without one. They make your truck so versitile.

Saying that I reckon thats a very good looking canopy

Ok boys as you know I purchased a new canopy on the weekend,

Now just to let you know when I was fitting the canopy I found that when I placed it on the tub there were a couple of lumps of fibreglass on the bottom of the canopy where it sits on the tub, in turn making it not sit flat on the sides of the tub so some work is required to make them sit flat. :x

 I just got the 4” grinder out and gave it a little clean up so it would sit a little better, there was still a couple of gaps about 2 – 3mm along the sides between the tub and canopy.

 As I have a J deck tub I was unable to use the brackets supplied so a few measurements later I worked out where to drill some holes for bolting it down., I then drilled 4 holes down each side to bolt it down, I used 8mm x 40mm S/S bolts.

Also supplied was some rubber strip and a silicone to place on the top of the tub to seal it. I used the rubber but not the silicone. All worked out fine so far.

The gaps all pulled down nice and firm once all bolted down. . . .

Now I’m a very happy Hilux owner with a canopy. . . . . :D
