Ben.
Here is the update at the moment..
Bit embaressed about this.....
Image
About the only thing that I have done to it is let it go to natural steel finish... Rust......
With a busy lead up to Chrissy after Cape York and getting sick before Chrissy I have done nothing with it..
That is the lastest shot taken today.... The clamp survived Cape but it does need a location dowel to take some load off the lock down toggle. The toggle has some movement in it now though..
I only put the wheel on when I put the 32's on as its alot of extra weight to carry around without using it...
I'll finish it one of these days fix it up cosmetically as well looks rather agricultural.....
Cheers

Going with the agricultural theme, why don't you put a hinge at the base of the upright so you can lower the assembly and bolt a grader blade or set of harrows to the wheel mount plate? Slop a bit of sump oil over the whole lot for superior protection whilst keeping the retro-industrial/agricultural look. :| :|

Simon.
Been toying with the idea to fit one of these.

Rather than a swingaway, it can be called a lift away.. I reckon you could squeeze at least 4 rims on this easily..
Notice how the towhitch is incorporated into the design as well, hitch height is also adjustable. The ripper attachment lowered to the ground would act like a ground anchor and solve the problem of the poor handbrake problem on the hilux as well... might burn the clutch out though if you forgot to release (raise) the handbrake..
:P :P :P :P
Hope you have been well mate. :)
Cheers

Skoggy,
I think you're getting a bit silly; how would you fit the tracks? I suppose you could adapt the tracks off your excavator (I'm sure Rodw will have a link somewhere for more specifics). :? :?
