Yes, I refitted one and the wires all need to be cut and resoldered to move them. Command also sell a steering wheel control option that uses wireless to send button presses to the brain. Might be worth looking into...
You could get a new steering wheel console from a wrecker. GDM in Brisbane would most likley have one as I got a radio fascia from them the other day...

Drew I'm mystified by what you said that you got the new model, but it didn't have cruise? I specifically paid a bit more to get the new facelifted model, the main changes in which were the sound system controls on the steering wheel and cruise in the manual. I can't understand how you'd get the audio controls, which I saw in a pic, but not the cruise, when they come with both from the factory??????

yer Toyota decided not to put the cruise control in i think all the manuals. i know mine is the same as Drew's (black 08 upgrade d4d xtra cab) and mine doesn't have it either. i got up the sales man and said that i had expected to get cruise and that it wasn't good enough that i didn't get one. but as he pointed out i got a great deal and if i want one id have to get an aftermarket one. im still not happy that i didn't get one but i will get around to fixing it one day.
Cheers Sam

Yeh i deliberatly waited for the update model so i would get cruise. All the paperwork from toyota and the dealer and toyotas own website said i was getting cruise. On the day of delivery the dealer was as supprised as me to find blanks in the steering wheel. The called toyota and asked why and their reply was there was a shortage of supply so they decided to leave it off the single and extra cab manuals and only put it on the dual cab manuals. SO i showed toyota all my paperwork saying i was supposed to get cruise they basicaly said we dont care its up to the dealer to sort it out, toyota wont give the dealers the factory module so i had to get an aftermarket with 12mth warranty when the truck has 6yrs.

I would have the dealer up for the cost of the aftermarket cruise then.....
Or gone to fair trading.
Duh, I just saw on the previous page that you did get it from Toyota.....

hehe yeh got it for free.
Just a note... the spare fits under the tub !!! with plenty of room a 305/70R16
As you can see it actualy sits prety high up in there. Its as low as the shackles and ARB rear bar.
Even put a combination lock n cable round it and the chasis should keep the derro's off it lol

Also got the stock bashplates to fit with out loosing ground clearance... well only the 1" the diff was dropped. It will do until i make a custom one and gain some approach angle.
Just made clearance in the mount for the sway bar and used a 1" spacer at the front of the rear bashplate with a longer bolt.

Hey Drew, nice truck you have there!
Just a quick question for you, what are the Mickey Thompson tyres like at highway speeds? As I'm in england & the highway speed limit is 70mph I just wanted to know if you've had them anywhere near 110kph & if they were stable?
I've got a 3" body lift planned for this summer & want to fit either Baja Claws or MTZ's
Cheers
Jamie

Mate just did a trip to see the family 1700km each way. Did it in one day sitting the cruise on 120kmh most of the way and a bit extra when overtaking road trains. They handled it fine, they make a bit of noise as any muddys do but not too much and still handles bends etc fine and thats on our outback roads yours are much better overe there.
