Hey guys,
Thought I would share this awesome build series our channel has done and is being rolled out weekly in an extensive video build series. We took a bone stock 08 TRD Hilux and went all out on a semi custom premium quality build.

-Pacemaker headers
-Custom BBG Y-pipe and 3" single exhaust (with cutout  )
-Custom Walbro aftermarket fuel pump install
-Quick change modular pulley setup
-Custom billet 7th Injector setup (SELLING THESE IF INTERESTED)
-Custom pre-tensioner to supercharger pulley
-Custom AFE airbox install
-Xede piggyback ECU

And a full indepth Dyno tune!

Definitely worth a watch for those guys with a 1GR-FE, whether forced induction or N/A! We were thoroughly impressed with how this engine performed.

So stay tuned I will try post every video up here as soon as they come out, but for those who can't wait, click on that subscribe button on YouTube for instant notification :D and you can also head over to our Facebook @boostedbuiltgarage and stay up to date.

Hope you guys enjoy and find this interesting/helpful - that's our goal :geek:

Great videos! Can’t wait for the rest. I’ve got the 2.7” pulley on mine, you might inspire me to go smaller.

Thanks mate,
Definitely worth doing, though you'll need the 7th Injector, But I can sort you out with one ;)

Sweet vlogs mate!
Cool to see the TRD Hilux, never seen the engine bay before.
Here in Norway we only get the 2.5 and 3.0 Litre TDI on the gen7/mk6.
Keep up the good work!

Looks like a good build just a couple of questions why the 7th injector instead of just bigger flowing injectors is this a cost thing? and are you not worried about putting the pulley mount out of balance by cutting the flats into it?

My A750F Auto is failing, and mine only puts out about 180kW and 600nM at the wheels. Any more torque than this and you’ll be snotting transmissions. I have seen supercharged 100 series breaking them too, not sure about the 4.2TD versions, they probably cannot easily be screwed up enough to bother the A750F.

What gear was your car in on the dyno? I got 197kw but only around 430nM. Car was in third gear. That’s a massive difference in torque between yours and mine.

3rd gear. Actually 174kW (I remembered 179) and 596Nm in 3rd gear.

More important though here are the original figures on the same dyno, all in 3rd gear:

127kW and 450Nm (dead stock other than fitment of 17" wheels and 265/65/17).
141kW and 476Nm (same car but with Extractors, high flow cats and 2.75" single plus XEDE).
174kW and 596Nm (TRD supercharger fitted with smaller pulley for 6.5psi, still with stock air intake).

Sounds like my exhaust is too big. Just measured it and I have 2.5” out the extractors into 3” single. Exhaust was done before I bought the car. Now I’ll just have to wait to see the dyno results for BBG’s hilux and decide whether to go a smaller exhaust (to suit the mods so far), or go all out on smaller s/c pulley and 7th injector. Decisions, decisions!

I have a TRD CAI to fit as well, bought it off US Ebay a month or so ago.

Yeah I’ve fitted one to mine. The induction noise at WOT with the drivers window open will give you hard on!

Unlikely! I have a few V8 Holdens and I’m used to big capacity V8 engines (like 427 and 454ci), building a 385ci SBC for my HK Monaro right now. The sound of a V6 doesn’t excite me that much, if I had the choice the Hilux would have an LSA in it now, or at least an LS3. But too much work to be a pioneer on it. Hilux supercharged V6 goes well but the sound is not pretty.

So reason for the 7th injector vs changing to 6x larger main injectors is because with a piggyback you only have control over a few things and cannot adjust the injector scaling without throwing the scaling out on everything. The piggyback intercepts the cam/crank & MAF signals essentially and phases them differently to adjust the parameters (timing and fuelling) by tricking the ecu.

We are actually sorting/sorted out a way to reflash the whole ecu, so in that case you can change anything in the factory config (rev limit, injectors, error codes etc etc etc)

And in regards to cutting flats in the pulley, they're pretty equidistant and also being that close the the centre of rotation it's not much of a throw out. Nothing noticeable thus far - not concerned though :)

You can't really compare different dyno figures, but can tell you this much, 2.55 pulley and an intake - you'll need a 7th injector ;) Not much longer til dyno day video

That's alot of torque for the amount of power you were putting out :? We definitely weren't seeing that kinda torque on the dyno. Maybe your dyno might not of been scaling correctly?

Anyways, Have you got a trans cooler on it? The biggest killer of autos is cooking the oil (almost a guarantee with standard cooler setup) then once that oil is cooked, its stuffed. It breaks down and goes through the whole box and ruins all the parts inside

Look at the stock versus final figures I posted above, same dyno. Increase was about 150Nm peak but has far more gains down low.
Has had a big cooler and temp gauge since new, never let it get hot. Trans is coming out next week so we’ll see where the brass is coming from, but can only be from converter or possibly a Bush. Fluid is clean and good and no other residue.
Will be good if you can change the ECU, mine hits the rev limiter hard at about 5700 from memory and power is still climbing strong. Looks to be heading for over 200kW at 6500 or so.

Yeah that's the most important & comparable data, the runs on the same dyno with the same car.

Would be great to hear what the verdict is on the box when you pull it out mate 8-)

In terms of the limiter, we were thinking the exact same thing. However, Benny the tune-master has figured out a way to reflash the ecu now, so we are going to be doing that shortly to remove CEL and also up rev limiter and also once back on dyno next, we'll play with cam timing too. Any idea what these can safely rev to??? 8-) If you want, you could send us your ecu and Benny can do the same ;)
