Jabs - it is an MCC bar, Rocker bar I believe comes in single or triple hoop and has all of the attachments you see are standard (apart from the spotties). Probably one of the easiest bars I have fitted. Mik and I got it on in under half an hour.....

How do you rate it? I've been thinking of getting the front bar for my 'Lux. It looks a lot heavier than the other offerings on the market. Also, what do you reckon about it's clearance?

Haven't seen one of these in-person unfortunately.

The bar quality seems pretty good, some of lights seem a little cheaper than name brand. Happy with the fit as the dropped a couple of bolts in whilst Mik and I held it in place - pretty good compared to the weight of my TJM bar on my dual cab. The mounting hardware seems competent too as the bar doesn't float or move as much as some others I have had. Powder coat finish seems to be nice and thick too.

Arrival angle seems good as bar cuts from the lights back to the radiator fairly steeply. There is heaps of room for a winch (or a 700x300x75mm intercooler :D ) and it has rubber coated recovery points on the front ready to drag any zd30's out using reverse.....

PS - if you do fit one make sure the eyebrows and the recovery point rubbers are tightened up - Mik only did them finger tight onto the nylocs - found out how hard they were to reach once fitted

The engine is back in and has been running well for the last 1500k. The daughter has her L's and started her work on destroying the clutch. We are looking either a roll n lock lid or a canopy for the ute but as its a single cab its hard to find anything to fit so if any one knows how we make our own roller lid I am all ears :D

It was decided that the only thing that really made it look like a lux was the bonnet, we decided to change that........... this scoop with a front mount does nothing but look different...... if you had a top mount it would probably make some sort of difference. Pretty sure it does aid in getting airflow through radiator and around engine - that's what we told the missus anyway ;)

We also didn't like the way it stopped so we did a TRD brake upgrade to the car

Now all we have to do is:
fit the speedo corrector
finish wiring in the steering wheel controls
run aerial leads and terminate
fix an annoying leak in the cracked tappet cover
Work out how we are going to finish the tub off

Any suggestions?

Love the 400's as they are pretty robust and have a great mounting structure.

Mal, are you sure they aren't rallye 4000's? I had a set and yours look very similar. I loved mine, also had a 100w hid kit in it, but honestly they were pretty good with the halogen globes in. I swapped mine out for a set of X-ray 200 series 90 watt hid's and saw very little, if any improvement on the rallyes!

Nice looking build mate, gotta be proud of that for your first vehicle!

Thanks Jacko - they are the 4000's - we bored out the bulb socket with a step drill and mounted a set of 100w HID bulbs in them - for about 1/3rd the price of 'genuine' hella HID's. They start brightening up road signs around the 2.1k mark :P

So we were going to do a canopy on the single cab - but decided against it Mikayla decided she didn't want her ute looking like a station wagon. Instead we went with a roof top tent. Breaking out the tape measure and a pen and pencil the idea was to get something that was functional. Mikayla's only stipulation was it had to look tough...... A bit of measuring and googling of ute porn on the net and we came up with a design.

A bit of good work by the boys here at HTH Rainwater Products - they folded up the sides for us. Mik added the holes to enhance the 'toughness' and they are actually turned out to be pretty good hand holds.... :D

Blast Off here in Mackay did a fabulous job of blasting and powder coating them for us along with the roll bar Then it just left a big wide open hole. Mik was not keen on a Tonneau because she wanted to carry the dogs. A compromise was found to allow the dogs to transit without the removal of the cover - Paul and the boys up here at Custom Unique did a good job - would have gone black buttons if we had planned it..... Mik has a black nikko pen that is going to get a work out....

Image

So last weekend there was the Old Station Fly in down past Rocky - the ute got its first highway run since the new engine. With all the gear on plus extra swags and gear for 5 people it did a little over 10l per hundred for the 900k return trip. Not sure how it went - the missus went with Mik and I flew down..... judging by the pissed offedness between them - 5 hours in the car was a bit much..... All in all the girl is pretty happy with its first outing..... 2 in the tent, one in the tub and two under gazebo - fairly capable camp vehicle 8-)

Image

Now all we have to do is get the rear lights, tray lights, fridge, sockets, water and roof top LED bar installed...... Next weekend!

So we have gotten the following done since the last post:
1 High mounted the light bar (all 50 odd inches of it)
2 Tub lighting installed under the rack mounts
3 Side work lights installed onto the middle rack mount
4 Rear work lights installed on the rear of the tent rack
5 Timer installed in power windows ($55 relay and can adjust it to whatever time you need)

We did the dash LED lights mod - which is an awesome mod to do.

I also got around to getting the IC piping finished off and sent away for a splash of color. We relocated the IAT sensor to the intercooler to avoid the heat soak - seems to run better as the computer appears to be putting in more injection timing with the cooler readings - something to think about?

My ute is getting a bigger turbo so the stage 2 will go on the daughters ute - didn't take her long to realise that no matter how good it goes - it can always go better! :D
