Arne's 2010 37" Arctic Truck - Arn's Lux Adventure -

Hi everyone!

It´s been a long time since i posted here, but i´m back!
Last time i was on here i owned a Black X-cab (LINK) back in 2011 and had it for two years, but sold it because of needing more seats in a car rather then just two.... Ever since that day i sold that pickup i have missed it a lot! Especially in the wintertime here in Norway.

Things have changed lately and i have now bought my self a used D-cab from a dealer farther south in Norway and will be picking it up with my buddy on October 5.! Will be flying down to Oslo and then take the train for 1,5 Hours to get it, and then a 9 hour drive back to the west coast where i live!
Can´t wait to get the mods started on this, and will in some couple of years hand it over to ArcticTrucks to rebuild it!

A little bit about the car:
- 3.0 TDI Engine, 171HP
- SR5+ Grade
- Automatic
- Leather seats, front seats only (Norway it cost extra to set in the back seats, but when the car gets 10Years old its free..Stupid law!)
And A LOT of originally fitted parts from the dealer when it was new 5years ago(will update the exact list when i get to the dealer)

Here are some picture for you guys, can´t make a thread without it can we? [emoji1]

Pictures are from the dealers ad, so will be posting up new photos when i get it home [emoji3]

Looking forward to be chatting with all of you again!

Thx a lot guys!
Yes, i must agree, this color is beauitiful. It fits both with black optics and as well chrome.
The plan is to go for black since i will be plastidipping it later on :)
So i have just ordered black doorhandels and side mirrors on ebay, will plastidip the grill black since i then will be availible to reverse to chrome again later on :)

New updates finally!
Roofrack came this week, so put it together today, i also bought 10pcs of worklights to put on the car but will have to think out how i will mount them :)
Switches are ready so just have to pull cables from the roofconsole to the engine, then back up to the roof! Will update you guys again when that time will come! :) ImageImageImageImageImageImage

Fitted my roofrack today! Im happy how it came out on the car, but not sure about the hight since im using thule's crossbars. But will run with this setup for now until i find it interesting to start drilling holes in the roof :P

The plan now is to order up the ledbar that is going on the front of the rack, and will then start wiring up everything for he worklights around it.

Anyone have some toughts/knowlege about curved vs normal ledbars for the front, thinking 42" or 50" :)

I had a 42in above my windscreen and it fitted great, I reckon 50 would be pushing it. most of the curved ones I've seen in 42in r 400w where as the straight ones r usually 240w.

Thanks for the reply TOYZX, i agree with 42in would be preferable for this setup.
Is there any pros/cons with a curved bar vs a straight bar?

Have checked with the builds ups by others on the forum, and it seems that most go for the straight option when having a roofrack.

Will look/read some more on the two difference before i order up :)

Yeah if ya mounting it on the rack I'd say go with the straight one. I'll probs go with a curved one when I buy another(previous one got flogged!) cos mine on the windscreen. Make sure ya figure out a way of theft prevention.

Have been thinking about the ledbar that will be on the roofrack, i ended up ordering a curved one just to be different [emoji106]

Worked further on the roofrack last weekend and put som mesh on it since it orginally did not have one, next up will be pulling cables and mounting up worklights around the whole thing :)

Have got the ledbar up on the rack this weekend and im pretty satisfied with it :)
Pulling the cables from the roofconsole to the enginebay was not easy, but managed to get them trough after some amount of good will! The way the switches work is they get their power from the parking-lights instead of going directly on the battery.

Will be mounting more worklights on it so i get lights going all around the car :D
So got extra relays to connect them :)

Ive been thinking about buying a EMU 2" liftkit next for the car... as i was looking at the car today i felt it was saggy in the front...
but im not certain if i should just buy the front set first and then the rear later on...
What do you guys think?

Alright, i ordered a full EMU 2" lift kit today for the money i got from the old wheel set!
So will be getting it to the end of the month!

So now i'm thinking: should i go for 32" or 33" tires? :?
Since i have the VTS i cant go lower then 17inch rims...
thinking about an 0 offset for the setup with either 265/70/17 or 285/70/17 but still not certain what to choose!

Open for suggestions about this and really want to hear your opinions :)
Have read the 32 and 33inch thread, a lot of info there, so will be going trough them again to make sure i get all the info i can!

With only 2inch lift you'll get plenty of scrubb with the 285s and 0 offset. A body lift is the easiest way around it. 32s will fit no problem with zero offset.
