Thx for the tip Luke, a question to that, how much work is it to do a 2inch bodylift? Ive seen alot of threads but havent really understood what must be done to achieve the lift..
Iknow about the extention of the bodymounts on the cab and tub, but what about the steering rod, breaklines and stuff like that the are in the enginebay and underneath the body?

A mate and i knocked mine over in about 6 hours on a Saturday arvo/night with alot of drinking in between! Get yourself a kit from VMN, they do an awesome kit with excellent instructions and all the bits ya need to do the job including an extention for the steering shaft etc. Its around the 700 mark but well its well worth it as ya know ya not gunna get half way through the job and need more bits!

Soo... A little has happened since the sale of the top.

All the lights have been setup and it works great!
Image

Tires and wheels have come in and mounted, but cant turn properly...

Got the OME lift this week, but rust has stopped the work...
The lower controlarm was unable to loosen up, and it ended with having to cut the bolts since the nut broke off....
Thanks Norway for salting the roads to pices! ImageImageImage

Love that rust! I know ya would have needed to loosen them for alignment but there is no need to touch the lower arm when fitting the struts. Oh well at least you can fix the issue now! What wheel and tyres did you end up getting?

Yup, really got to love it!
I just wanted to loosen it up so it was easier to drop it down and then gently remove the strut...
So yeah, ended up buying a used control arm, and new bolts, damn they are expensive! 278AUD! thats for 4 whole sets. this time they will be fitted wit grease so no salt or dirt will access it!
I really hope the right side isnt this bad!

Cant remember the exact name of the wheels, somethingsomething A15(can update that later when i get home)
I ended up with the cooper discoverer SST in 265/70/17, they work great as a year round tire, good for snow use, but i do have some 265/65/17 Nokian studded tires if the roads should get icy :)

oh well.. tried to do the right side last night... did not work, the bolt was rusted as F*.....
so ended up buying the other used control arm.
Hopefully i will get the truck done in the weekend, stay tuned! :?

Soo..
a little update since i got the alignment check.
I also had to take the MOT check since its due before august this year.
Got some negative results :/

Things they didn't approve were:
2" Lift(wasn't in the documents for the car)
the front bar(same reasons as the lift)
the buckets mounted on the front bar (they weren't secure enough)
the wheels (touching the front bumper when turning and sticking out from the arches)
rear taillights(smoked/wrong colours)
side turning lights (smoked/wrong colour)

So have to some work until i do a new MOT check...

2" lift and Front bar i have TÜV papers for, so those they will approve.
the buckets on the front i have to mount with stiffeners (but thinking about selling them along with the front bar)
the taillights and turning lights i probably just change out to the original ones and show it then change them back.
and then its the wheels... they didn't approve them since they where sticking out from the wheel arches and touching the bumper... i took the dremel tool and have cut necessary plastic that it was touching, hopefully they say its "ok" now as i cut a lot.
But about them sticking out, was thinking about buying those rubber flares that some run with here, any pros/cons about them?

Thats the update so far :)

Bugger thats harsh! Bloody strict! I wouldn't put the rubber ones on to extend the factory ones, they look like crap! I'd order some nice chunky jungle flares to replace the factory ones.

Yup...
Yeah, was thinking about that too, dont know how much they cost in Australia if you buy them over the counter?
Found a seller on ebay that sell them for approx 750aud w/shipping. not sure if that is expensive or cheap for them.
Found a seller here in Norway that sells something that looks like jungleflare, two different types, on might looks like plastic, the other he writes are glassfiber, they are titled with "KR auto sport". from what i found out comes from Thailand. Not sure about if they are any good tho?
The plastic ones go for about 510aud and glassfiber ones for about 720aud.

EDIT: sorry, those prices was for Bushwacker flares, not Jungle Flares..

Well, not much has happened here...
Put in a new headunit to replace the 2din gps from toyota, set of new front speakers and a 12" woofer, sounds wonderful.

Can also add that i bought a double backup camera system with a clip-on mirror with two monitors on it. Will post some pictures when i get done with it.

Havent gotten the MOT check done yet, but got until end of the month before im on the bad side with MOT...
