The boys at Just Autos really know what they are doing. I just a front mount and some injectors and ill be set :) your front mount looks sweet mate. There would be a few fellas keen to get you to make a kit up for them i reckon :)

Thanks mate, yeah it actually feels like I'm driving a car now, very smooth and plenty of power when needed.

lol don't think I'll be making up any kits, after making my own I can attest that all the other kits out there appear to be excellent value for money based on the work that goes into it and getting them to look good 8-)

heh, not anymore, all piping was cleaned back and resprayed as I didn't have anymore black high temp paint lying around so had to use the silver stuff instead.

A couple of changes, snorkel stuff is now almost completely removed and will be looking to sell it. Just need to wait on Toyota to order in a new intake pipe before I put the inner guard and flare back on. Also swapped back to factory headlights with halogen bulbs - frankly I prefer the look and I've got the lightbars if I ever need more light. Good thing I did it when I did as all the HID ballast brackets had nearly completely rusted away
bloody cheap Chinese powdercoating

Intake is now 100% stock, so once funds permit I will be getting an NPC clutch installed at Just Autos and then rerun on the dyno, hopefully there are a few more horsies to be found. I was hoping for 180rwkw with this latest lot of mods but only just nudged 160, however we do know the snorkel was causing a restriction and the slipping clutch made it difficult to check gains.

Also thought I'd have a go at polishing the bonnet to see if I could avoid a respray, so some high cut compound and pads on the Polisher and what do you know!

It's not perfect but I'm happy enough with it :D

Also have some more subtle changes happening over the next week, mostly in the engine bay

Engine bay cleaned up a bit, with bonnet struts (required me to relocate the Provent) and Prado 150 series engine cover :D

I haven't yet got the NPC clutch so can't comment there. For HKS only gains check out the first of the 2 dyno graphs

Best bet is to call Matty at Just Autos and ask - online pricing is hard to find for the NPC but Ive been told to budget for a few grand

When I was talking to npc last year for the clutch flywheel package was $1200 give or take.

Yeah $1278 plus postage and fitting rings a bell can't quite remember. Great clutch, you need to on the ball with your foot work though.

Another visit to Just Autos today to get the NPC clutch fitted and retuned now that I have removed the restrictions of the factory air box.
A net gain of about 5HP, and about 40nm - not a big gain by any means but it's also running a lot leaner too (more so than factory) which hopefully will show at the pump

Issue at the moment is there is now plenty of air but I've run out of fuel - Ute is going back in a few months time to get the timing belt and water pump done so we're going to rectify the fuel issue then

Piece of advice, fitting a pod filter to these utes is very finicky and if not done right will virtually kill all performance below 1800rpm! Not needed anyway unless you're running high horsepower 8-)

Fair weapon alright, wonder how your pod filter would go offroad? Did you see a big gain going from the Toyo airbox setup to the pod setup mate? certainly chasing performance with it!

Modra_122 - Made the MAF sensor mount out of steel whilst I was welding up the intake. In the end though I think it's essentially running a MAFless tune so all that effort to waste

Jack09 - Pod filter would probably be terrible off road, but considering the ute will probably never see off road duties due to my air compressor under the rear tray (240v), road tyres and no longer running a snorkel I really don't think it will be a problem.
Only about 5hp gain from the factory airbox, but the main difference now is the tune is much leaner than before. In other words air is no longer a problem, is fuel. Something I will be fixing in the next couple of months

fair enough mate, Will that fix be through a bigger fuel pump? or one of those JustAutos Hilux Ratio Pump brackets?

Jack09 -yep the ratio pump thingo. Asked about going a bigger pump but the general concensus is that the bracket is the way to go.

Knoxy - In the end it's used for work purposes, and if anything an ali tray helps me avoid unwanted attention
