Hey mate. Bar is holding up real well even after chopping it up. It was originally on the ute when I bought it and felt it was tough as. They have a smaller profile than the arb and other bullbars (they don't stick out as far from the grill) which I think is a lot better. Gives a better approach angle. It completely removed the bumper and has its own wings that hug the headlights.

Been a while since I've been on here. Had some big changes and some not so good changes.
Since the last update I put in sway bar disconnects. They worked awesome however somehow the bolt came loose and the link dropped down and destroyed my cv. Easy fix removed swaybar for good and put a new cv in.
The 33's are going awesome, cut away a fair bit of guard to fit them and still need to do the body mount chop.

Also decided to upgrade my head speaker set up. I'm now running pioneer head unit, 12" Sony type s sub, clarion high output 4 Chane amp, Audison 6" splits and tweeters in the front and the front speakers mounted in the rear, super clean sound and loud as shit with no distortion.

And the last big update is the new tub I put on over the weekend. It's a sr5 tub that was already quarter chopped. Spent the weekend welding on mounts for mudflaps, new flares and made a template for the brackets for my tow bar to lift it up to chassis height. This is just a temporary fix until I have anouther weekend off to make a proper rear bar with tyre swing away.
All that's left now is the hoops for bullbar, rear bar and stainless snorkel.

Nice one mate! 285/75-17 is an odd size! How do ya rate the hankooks? Will be getting a set in a few weeks. Trying to decide whether to go 285 or 295/75-16 or 33x11.5x16, 295 is about 34!!

Yeah that's probably right. Haha yeah I figure the body mounts don't cut the tyre up like the guards did so they can wait a bit.
Yeah they are a great tyre on and off-road never had a issue. There noticeable but barely with the window up

Cool thanks for the feedback! I was running 32 inch maxxis bighorns which were a little noisy but not too bad, wouldn't want it any louder tho. Thanks man, keep up the good work.

Some nice updates here. Will be good to see the rear bar you come up with. Our luxes are quite similar however I haven't done a quarter chop. Keep up the vids :)

Cheers mate. Not 100% set on what kind of rear bar yet. Still thinking. Just lifting the tow bar for now. Should be a few vids coming the next couple weeks. Hoping to go out to glasshouse again soon.

My old tyres were 265/70/16. Yeah I noticed to for a 285 they are pretty narrow. My mates 285's are way wider than mine.

Few more changes.
Few weeks ago I got the two led lights on my bullbar hooked up. Also put two facing backwards on my roll bar. Holly crap they are bright. Made setting up at double island at night super easy.

Also managed to get the tow bar raised yesterday. Gained roughly 100-120mm of departure angle

Re: julz's lux 2.0. Been a interesting few months

Postby 06lux on Tue, 29 Nov 2016 7:26 +0000

Been a while since I posted on here.
It's been a wild couple months for the poor hilux. She's had ups and downs and major front end plastic surgery that made her look worse than Kaitlin Jenner.

Got to take her out a couple times. First was to land cruiser park, it was a awesome day out and nothing went wrong at all
As I was driving I didn't get to take photos and my go pro shat itself halfway through the day.

The next big thing that happened was I was involved in a 5 car pile up which beat up the front end a fair bit. Thankfully it was all low speed and no one was injured. 3 car where written off and mine was undrivable. The bullbar was pushed so far back it was sitting ontop of the tyres. Smashed my spotties, grill, bullbar was all mangled and torn and my headlights were cracked. Thankfully it didn't bend the chassis or push into the engine bay.
All fixed up now and back on the road within 2 weeks. Can't thank racq enough they were awesome and luckily I updated my policy with all my modifications so it was all covered and replaced with brand new gear. Except the bullbar which they straightened and did a great job too.

Image

As soon as I got her back I took it out to glasshouse for a night run, got to make sure she was still good. Again went great, did manage to dint a sill and push the bull bar back a lil but no biggie. Met up with a bunch of blokes from Mud It 4x4 Australia and drove some tracks with them. Great bunch of guys and it was a good night exploring around

Aaaaaaaand coming up the next two week is some power upgrades. She's getting a 3" exhaust, hks tuning module and NPC heavy duty clutch. I've also fitted a k&n high flow filter and a 3" stainless steel snorkel.
Also got the tonnea cover altered, got it cut around the rear bars and had a large zip stitched in along the cabin side so I don't have to unclip the whole cover only half now and the zip to get to my toolbox. So handy.

Here's how she sits now
