2014 SR Hilux Buildup

Thought Id start this thread to log what I have done to the Hilux over time to keep track of things.
The whole build up idea is to be clean, practical and efficient and to try use Aussie products / Companies to kit it out where possible. Id like to keep the car running at optimal performance and reliability with thought out thorough decisions.

Sorry for the image sizes, thats photobucket for ya.

So here it is stock standard on first day pick up. "Oh what a feeling"

Next was the dual batteries. My setup is to have the primary just for cranking the secondary for all running accessories IE; All added lights, uhf, winch, compressor and control gear. Ive also added an anderson plug into the tray from the second battery to charge a third battery which is housed in a powerpack. Its re/moveable when packing the tray and will be tied down once Ive installed the tie down rails. The third battery is only to run engels and can be recharged @ 240v which also conditions the battery and charges to full capacity unlike standard alternators.

So the redarc solenoids work as such; Cranking completely isolated until reaches 13.2v. Then the first isolator closes circuit to charge the second battery. At 13.2v the second isolator closes and sends power down to the tray and charges the third battery. All isolators open circuit @ 12.7v to protect the cranking battery.
Can override to crank off the second battery only if first somehow gets drained.

Have purchased a Provent 200 kit and Fuel manager kit to be installed Monday also for its first 5000k service with the utemart flares to go on also.
A scanguage 2 is on its way over to be installed also and will order an windscreen mount for it. Brought it off a fella on the Modified Hilux N70 facebook page. Great page to see different setups and ideas.

Wheel size options:

outside diameters overall
stock: 748mm

245/65/17: 750mm
245/70/17: 776mm
245/75/17: 800m
255/70/17: 790mm
255/75/17: 814mm
265/65/17: 776mm
265/70/17: 804mm

hmm decisions of whether to push more sand or go a little skinner without sacrificing height

I'm not 100% in the r17 range, but I know in the r16 I'll soon be replacing my 265/75/r16s with 235/85/r16s. Essentially the same tyre height but slightly narrower in profile.
Might be able to find something similar in the r17 range?

I had 265/70/16's on previous car. Good tire size just wanting something different now.
The closest match for 17's is the 245/75/17 so I think ill be going that to try something new.

Current rims are stock and theyre 6 inch. I suppose a 7 inch will do. Dont need super wide rims for touring. Its more offset and turning clearance Im looking at to try maintain stock movement.

Thanks dude, No I used a local autosparky that has just started business in my small town. Throwing some coin his way to help out a good guy. Because the car is still under warranty it helps having everything logged incase of a mishap too. Although all the little addons I do myself, cant be assed with the larger things. Insurance companies eh.

He's a bloody good auto sparky thats for sure!

Yeah the liners great. I drilled all the holes for everything needed before it was sprayed so I could galv and paint everything and then have it coated. Last car had the plastic liner and it was shithouse. I hate rust with an envy!
