CRA59's 2014 SR5 Build

Postby CRA59 on Wed, 14 Jan 2015 1:40 +0000

Hi all,

Thought I'd start a build thread for those that may be interested.

I hope to end up with a reasonably capable tourer that can tackle most terrain without being too extreme.

Plenty to explore in FNQ, so will be worth it.

Have previously had a 2005 Hilux and a 1999 Prado so pretty much know what I want (I think haha)

Purchased new in Dec 2014 SR5 D4D, dealer fitted Denso snorkel and tinted windows.

I wanted to start with new wheels and tyres to give it a more distinct look. So changed to this...

CSA Raptor 17x8 wheels with 265/65 LT 17 Cooper S/T Maxx tyres

Next up will be a trip to ARB and others....stay tuned !

Cheers

Thanks guys... I'm happy so far..

Bullbar will be next, with winch, driving lights etc.

Ultimately, thinking about fitting a tray and wind off camper but funds could be a factor !

To be honest, I'm not sure what percentage tint it is, I just told them to give me the darkest legal tint.

Have done a few more things to the Lux and thought I'd show the progress so far..

Fitting all done by ARB Cairns (I'm getting too old to do the heavy work haha)

Winch and lights I supplied for them to fit.

A few pics to follow...

*ARB deluxe winch bar
*Runva EWX9500-Q Competition winch with Dyneema rope
*ARB Dual battery system
*Long Ranger 140 litre tank
*OME suspension F & R
*ARB recovery point
*Hella Luminator Xenon 222mm Driving lights with integrated ballasts.

More to do as $$$ funds allow, next will be a Roof console and UHF CB.

cheers

Claude

Bullbars all ways make a massive difference. More so when you add lights and a winch straight away. Great looking rig

At some stage in the future (when funds allow) I'll probably put a set of sliders on, not because I'm going to do much rock bashing but mainly because the standard steps are so weak and bend virtually by looking at them ! (I'm exaggerating but you know what I mean lol)

On the other '05 Lux I had, the steps looked like pretzels ..

Very nice looking Hilux mate. Have the same winch but got my control box mounted under the bonnet out of harms way where you have fitted the 2nd battery.

Thanks Mark,

Yep I would have liked the control box there too but with the battery there it's a bit of a squeeze.

Have you had any issues with the Runva? I wasn't too impressed with the quality of the remote control but I guess you get what you pay for.

The cap where the hand controller plugs in had a "12V outlet" sticker on it which was a bit crazy at the front of the vehicle, so I quickly removed it.

I would've loved to put a Warn on but couldn't justify the additional cost for what I'll be doing with the vehicle. Had to cut costs down somewhere!
