Cheers guys hard jobs still to come if my bloody turbo ever gets here, not lookimg forward to putting it back in.
Anyone know what the tightening pattern and torque is for the exhaust manifold?

edit* GSIC says 40nm for the manifold bolts but doesnt specify a tightening pattern, guess ill just do them like wheel nuts and go opposites starting from the outsides

Seat them all then start tightening from the middle and spiral ya way out to the ends.

Sorry toyz missed your post, the last stem probably got 15k km before it let go and all bitumen with no 4wding, the turbo was because the bolts holding the compressor housing onto the body came loose and let it move. Its now been rebuilt and will hopefully turn up tomorrow.

Turbo arrived friday spent the last 2 days putting it back in just ti have that piece of shit oil line leak, tried tightening it a bit more with no luck so went to undo it and pulled the stud from the turbo. Then stripped yhe turbo trying to get it back in. Toyota engineers can all go f$@#&% each other and die from aids. Who designs a turbo oil feed that you can't remove without pulling the turbo.
Pretty close to setting the whole thing on fire and buying am excel. My neighbour own a loval mechanics so monday hes going to pull it back out helicoil the stuffed thread and fix my mistakes. Still might set it on fire and buy an excel. Worst design ever

You can remove the oil feed without removing the turbo. I have reseal mine. Genuine gasket is only a couple of dollars

How the hell did you get it out without pulling the turbo? Id just doesnt fit in that stupid gap. In anycase the turbo needs to come back out to get the thread ive broken helecoiled. I used all ned gaskets and torqued up to spec still leaked. Ita just a stupid design, if i didnt need my car for chrissy id order a flexiline kit and replace the lot

I was just able to reach up through the bottom to undo the two nuts on the bottom of the turbo and the return to sump and from above undo the banjo and basically falls out? Guess it may of been how I held my tongue. But remember changing the seal in about 30 mins.

I can undo all 2 nuts on the bottom of the turbo and the bolts on the return but there is no way the pipe will come out without loosening the turbo right off and removing the dump pipe. It was hard enough to get back on with everything undone

My mechanic gave me a call tonight after trying to sort my car today, turns out id just stripped the studs so he pulled them out decked the oil line to make sure it was flat and bolted it back onto the turbo with bolts rather than the studs to make it easier to remove. It still leaks so his theory is the turbo oil input face is out. Going to see if he can make/ get a fibre gasket to try get it to seal if not ill have to send my turbo back again to get fixed again. Which will probably take a month now its xmas.

Bit of an update. Ended up buying a softline oil kit which came with fibre gasket. Kit was pretty ordinary the lines were way to long and the setup what a pain to get on. Glued the gasket in with gasket goo and got it all in. Lasted about 200km and started leaking again. Pulled the turbo back out today. Only took an hr and a half this time and the flange plate and turbo flange are both warped a bit. Also theres a heap of oil in the exhaust wheel so the freshly rebuilt turbo was done dodgy. Monday ill make some calls and send it back off again. Getting well over this shit.

Also managed to clip my taillight with my quad and smash the indicator. Bloody car

Nailed him! I lost a dog to a snake last summer, had to put her down myself rather than pay for a vet. They say dealerships are criminals vets are bloody shocking!
