my snorkel turned up today so i fitted it up this arvo,
its a bullit brand ebay jobby, seems pretty well made however the instructions were lacking
got it on no worries however i had this left over
Image
doesnt fit well anywhere?
the kit was also missing a bolt but the company i got it from is posting out a replacement.
And the supplied rivets are crap so i picked up some stainless ones instead (and a real rivet gun so i can stop struggling with the crap one ive got, if only i got it before battling the roof rack rivets :D )
i also siliconed up the joins before putting it together to help it seal
anyway enough chat heres some pics

bought some more shiney stuff today
new 200A ac/dc tig welder
Image
all the associated ancillary gear minus gas which ill pick up tomorrow
Image
and a lincon viking auto dimming helmet
Image
so ill pick up a bottle or argon tomorrow and some scrap metal and spend the next few weeks teaching myself to tig, if i fail horribly ill book into a tafe course and get some instruction but it cant be that hard so ill see how i go :D
Once ive got a decent handle on it ill pick up some ally rhs and start fabbing up my tray
Ive also designed a pretty flash drop slide thatll ill make up when i get the gear

while i was out today i also picked up some LED interior lights, theyre heaps brighter than the stockies, well worth the few bucks they cost and a decent set of jumper leads to add to the recovery gear box

Good luck with the welding, it is all practice and the tafe courses are good. (boilermaker by trade)
When you installed the sub and amp behind the rear seat can you still lift the rear seat base up? Have looked into doing this but i use the rear for storage and i don't think there is enough room.

i can lift the seat up far enough to get into the storage bins and the seat back still folds down easy enough, Im not sure if the seat bottom still goes all the way up as i havent tried. Ill have a go tomorrow and let you know

I got a cheapy snorkel off eBay and had the same bit spare. I can only guess that it could be for petrol motor and maybe it is a generic diesel/petrol kit?

got some more gear today, my air on board switches arrived, the winch isolator and winch switch arent connected atm as im waiting on an axis bar before fitting my winch.
I did however wire up the radio switch so now i can listen to tunes without the keys in the ignition and as the amp is driving the speakers and runs off the aux bat i should be able to run it without worrying about not being able to start in the morning
Image
the last to holes are reserved for e lockers when they go in, ill probably run them through the winch isolator as well to stop accidental engagement (thats also the reason i got a push button isolator instead of a rocker, itll be a good effort to accidentaly switch it on)

got some pics of how far my seat goes up with the sub behind it, it doesnt go all the way but there is plenty of room to get to the storage bins underneath

if you just want to put straps and stuff behind the seat you wont have any dramas, i could probably trim out some foam from the bottom of the seat where the sub sits and it would work normally. i havent needed to fold the seat up yet so i havent bothered

Thanks for checking it out for me. The area is just too narrow. I've looked into the under seat sub but am not convinced they are worth it. Progress delayed/pending haha.

i was looking at an under seat sub before i fit mine and a few amp/sub combos went fairly well for what they were. not quite enough punch for me but plenty of bass for everyday driving, i suggest heading into your local car audio shop and trialing a few you will be surprised. you would be able to fit a couple behind the back seat and get plenty of bass, while still being able to lift the seat, it was just a bit beyond my budget (the good gear isnt cheap)

I've stopped into a couple of car audio shops and yes the good gear isn't cheap. I don't like buying cheap nasty anything, i've always gone quality. (i do drive a hilux :D ) The under seat units seam too much of a compromise for me and do not put out what i believe is good bass. I'll keep looking.

went to start my car this morning and got the dreaded clicks, multimeter on the battery saw less that 5V when trying to crank so its a dead battery for me. jumped it off my aux and drove down to the local battery place, i picked up a duracell 860ccA cranking battery, 2 year warranty and seems pretty good so hopefully i wont have any more problems for a while.
Also booked my car in to get elockers fitted so its off next monday for a couple of days to get the lockers done and the diff gears changed over to 4.11 ready for my 33's to go on

If you don't mind me asking, who are you getting your lockers through and what are they costing?

im getting harrop elockers through opposite lock, i was originally quoted a bit over 3 grand suppied and fitted but im also getting the diff gears changed so now im just getting the lockers off OL and going directly through there fitter to get them installed. he quoted me $1090 fitted for lockers and gears going off 9 hrs labour, could be more or less depending on how the front diff goes in regard to shimming and setup.
im supplying the gears, bearing kit and solid spacers
