Did you use different wheel nuts to fit the patrol wheels?

It's the alloy patrol wheels that you need to change wheel nuts. Something about them loosening over time as the alloy heats up and cools down changes size a little bit. Steel ones are sweet

i finally got the motivation today to crawl underneath my car and fit my diff breathers, i did the front and rear diff and transfer case, i gave up trying to get the trans breather, thats a job for another day
Image
while under the car i fitted up my high clearance bash plate, i went to do the diff bash plate but the bolts in the kit are the wrong size so ill get some new ones tomorrow and whack it on
Image
i really shouldve done a better job cleaning all the mud off it yesterday as i spent more time eating dirt and wiping it out of my eyes than i did installing gear

i also ordered a redarc dual temp guage
http://www.redarc.com.au/products/produ ... s_g52-ttt/
to go with my egt/ boost guage and will instal them both in a dual pillar pod from 4x4 concepts, i read on a thread here that they are airbag compatible so ill see how it goes.
im going to set it up as a water temp and trans fluid temp guage with the 3rd temp input hooked up to a sandwich plate on the oil filter for oil temp

a couple more thing got done today,
picked up some stainless bolts and fit up my diff drop bash plate
Image
and i bought a dash cam and mounted it next to the mirror so i can record all the f**kwits that try to run into me, it also has motion detection and g shock recording as well as time date and location stamps, for a few hundred from jaycar it seemed like a good idea
Image
it was surprisingly easy to instal, just pushed the cable under the roof lining and pulled off the passenger a pillar trim and ran the cable down the existing cable, i still need to pick up another cigarette socket to wire in behind the dash to plug it into, so at the moment its just run out under the glovebox and to my normal socket

i got steel delivered wednesday and started cutting it up this arvo, i picked up a mig welder off a mate late this arvo so ill start welding tomorrow. ill keep this updated as i go

i cut the sides out, its 75 x 50 x 2mm RHS. i mocked it up on the floor to check my angles
Image
im making 1600 long and 1750 wide
drop saw made a hell of a mess chopping it up, the metal filing stuff seems to get anywhere
Image
i also ordered led taillights last night, i just got 4 inch round ones, they should turn up next week

that was it for today, ive got a full day on it tomorrow so i should smash a heap of it out

i lost a couple of days from other commitments but got back into my tray today
welded up the outer frame and flapper disked the welds back smooth
Image
i filled in the step with a piece of 25mm box rhs cut in half
Image
once that was all sorted i cut and fitted the tray base supports
Image
Image
dont look to closely at my welding, its a bit of a challange to get a decent position to weld out of my chair.

so now im ready to pull off the tub and mount my chassis runners and measure up my headboard which will happen thursday, if i have no major dramas i should be done and in for paint week after next.
lights should turn up this week so i can sort out how im going to do the rear light bit. im also going to pick up a plastic water tank to fit up between the runners up the front and build a slide tray to run up between the rails for the rest

yep i realised that as soon as i set them out :D ill just use the corners as drain holes for the tray base so i wont have to drill holes. ill do the headboard that way though

update on my tray,
i got the back light section mostly done, just waiting on some smaller reverse lights to turn up as the 5 inch ones were overkill and will make my draw to small. so ive got some 40mm x 80mm bar led reverse lights on there way to go in the middle of the other lights

tomorrow i plan on welding some angle around the insides of the frame to support the outside of my checkerplate base and to make up my headboard. ill also cut down my chassis runners and get them ready to go for sunday.
sunday ive got some mates coming over to help pull off the tub and mount the tray to the ute, then itll be in next week to get the floor folded up and once thats done itll be off to my mates workshop for a coat of black 2 pack.
i also still need to build a frame for my undertray draw but that will have to be done after ive got it on the ute and seen how much space ive got

i wish i planned it out a bit better before starting as apart from a basic drawing and an idea of what i want ive just been winging it. There has definately been a few things that would have been heaps easier if i done differently. Also if i could weld with any sort of skill itd save hours of flapper disking and cleaning up. :D

Haha I think we have different ideas on the meaning of the word fun, I've been picking black booger out of my nose all week from the metal filings.
