Hi TRD,

I'm not sure what you mean by single/double sheared, but I think you are underestimating the plate.

The plate is one continuous plate from where it bolts onto the sump bash guard through to the back, and bolted around the cross member. 5mm steel and with the folds and welds dishing the rear part should give plenty of strength. Maybe I will eat my words when I hit a rock.

Any way you look at it, it is much stronger than what is supplied by Toyota.

rds_929,

Thanks mate.

The Phat bars sliders tuck in a little closer I think. You can still use them to stand on to reach the roof if you want, but only if the door is open. Paul at Phat bars is very helpful, if you wanted some that stick out further, give him a call, he may be interested in helping you.

They are strong as though, they have copped a hit or two and still look like new.

That's the way mate. Will do just as good a job.

They do work though. A trip to the red dust before the seals filled the tub with dust, but a trip after them had minimal dust in it.

Rear, passenger side from the back of the cab. The door handle at the front is the rear passenger door handle.

Hi all. I haven't posted much lately, but I do look in often to see what is going on.

I have just updated all the photos in this thread after the Photobucket scandal of 2017. That new image host site works about 20x faster than PB ever did on a good day. I hope I haven't messed any of the pics up.

I haven't really done much to the Lux lately except maybe put a few scratches here and there, and get it dirty. One of these days I may even give it a wash.

I have put a light bar on the front. Impressive amount of light from it.

I am planning for a rear locker sooner or later, will let you know when that happens.

G'Day Bob
Have enjoyed reading through your build thread.
Try hard to achieve the above, it's the one mod that makes the most difference, I use my lockers all the time and like I said in the other thread today, if you can make it happen, get a front one too. If you've ever driven a fully locked Hilux in Low 1st or 2nd on 20psi tyres up a loose, scrabbly, muddy incline like Billy Goat Bluff or South Basalt Knob, you'll know what I mean. It's a fantastic feeling being fully locked, an awkward track is relatively straightforward and enjoyable. Without lockers, it can be unpleasant. On Billy Goat we were behind a group of older unlocked 4WDs including a nice 5th Gen Hilux, and they all really struggled with heaps of axle tramp and arses bouncing around throwing rocks everywhere. Eventually the Lux blew the rear diff, in a really bad place, big brown trouser moment. Ended up going down backwards a fair way which wasn't very enjoyable I suspect!
