Well if I did it again I would use Velcro, but I used 3 m4 ss nyloc nuts and bolts. One of which I changed at a later stage to a complete nylon nut, bolt and washers, I had noticed my dash lights flicker/flash over bumps in the road. Turned out the head of the pan head bolt was rubbing the top of the 30a DCC fuse which controls power to the radio fuse, dash illumination and ecu b. all sorted now, no more dramas.
I left enough slack in the cable to be able to lift off the fuse box cover and turn it over. I had designed and fabricated a bracket to mount off the flat side of my ARB battery tray closest to the motor but noticed that the heat from the heater transfer hose was directly below it causing it to warm up a bit too much for my liking so I canned the idea.

Yeah cheers, I hate drilling holes in my rig so I look for every alternative possible. Although I didn't think to use the front quarter panel fixing bolt to hold down the UHF antenna bracket I made up at work. Always find new ways to do things after you think about it

Being a while but a small update none the less.
I recently tried fitting my mothers 90series 16" prado steelies on my hilux, as she now has black sunnies on her car with Micky 4-rib atz tires courtesy of my brother. Unfortunately even in the +15 offset they just rubbed/touched the face of the brake calliper. So it's back to the drawing board for me. Might see if I can pinch a sunny off her and see if they fit

Oh I also just recently ordered my new front pre-assembled struts from ultimate too, so it won't be much longer until I can lift my tired front end back up past it's former glory. Can't wait, will post photos once it's all in.

Well these turned up today.... Pretty keen to get them fitted this w.e, at least my hilux will look like a 4x4 again.

Got the new springs fitted today, can't believe it took me this long.

The old struts with only 36000kms on them as you can see in the photo the bushes had started to collapse. My bar has only being on for the last 3-4000km.

Thanks guys I definitely did not want to be replacing parts after putting them on once already, I was looking at a set of aggressive all terrains possibly in a 265/70 r17 it mainly lives on the road and does beach and trail work. Definitely happy with it. I've just noticed that the sway bar is rubbing on the Lhs spring during compression is this a wheel alignment issue? As I haven't done that yet. Going to get a few hundred kms first so it all settles

I'm curious what dual power out you used to get a neat installation, given that it's mounted vertically. The surface mount ones obviously have no bottom part to the plastic housing to allow for the wiring to enter. How is yours orientated? Did you use this:

That is the exact unit I used but not the merit sockets, have heard some stories about hot connections with those. I mounted them to flat the sides of the chair mounts. Did some modifications on the back side of them to allow the cables to go straight in as I used 4mm2 dc flex cable and there was not a lot of room for slack inside of the cover

Well the mrs and I went down to Bathurst for the w.e to visit her best friend. I can say I'm certainly not going to miss that type of cold weather.
Im happy so say that my ute with all it's accessories performed faultlessly and wasn't too thirsty on the roads.
It's was good to get away from the norm and just chill out in good company. It's a beautiful place and I will be returning again, most likely around race time with a longer stop in lithgo for some sight seeing.

^^ these poor people got a little too excited on the track and managed to sink the car up to its sub-frame at the top of the mountain. One thing I can fault holden for in this car is the inadequate tow points, there are two holes in the frame at the front that only allow for hooks and there isn't one form of tow point present on the rear of the car. Which made my recovery attempt useless as I only had a snatch strap and bow shackles, I had only planned to tow/pull them out. Not snatch.

The most disappointing thing was seeing/hearing that all the other 4wd vehicles on the track drove past before I had pulled up to help, this according to the guy who stopped to help out in the ford parked at the back. And especially the one d%#khead in a jeep yelling abuse out the window. Little does he know.
In the end I told him to call a tow truck and get it winched out. Which he did and then continued around the track.

I know you are not obliged to stop but sure as s#%t the people who drove past would be the first to wave you down to help them out in a situation similar to this out on the tracks.

looks awsome did she get a lift front and rear ??

Just a lift up the front, it sagged a fair bit after I got my second battery and then again when the bar went on. It was at 470 hub centre to guard, it is now 535. Standard it 500mm. I have maintained a descent amount of rake for braking ect.

I asked for hd raised, I compared the part numbers on the paperwork to what was on the site and looks like I got the middle spring. I will lift it the whole way round soon enough. Beaut thing is, all I have to do up front now is change out the spring.
