Looks good mate! How's the speakers? Are using the stock head unit and if so, big improvement? Wouldn't mind some better sound.. Car looks wicked but, well done mate!

Not much changed when I swapped out the front speakers but adding the rear ones was definitely noticeable. When I bought it the stock head unit was already pulled out (apparently it kept bugging up) and its running a Sony xplod XAV-63. I think its a pretty shitty head unit  . The sound quality isn't too bad, but the unit it self is rubbish. Its slow to load anything, the touch screen isn't sensitive enough. Definitely looking at replacing it some time soon

Dan's Lux - 3" & Catch Can

PostPosted: Thu, 08 Jan 2015 2:33 +0000
by n0_pAnCaKeS
So its been a bit hard to do any mods to the lux between breaking my collar bone two weeks before christmas, christmas with the family and new years. But ive still managed to pour some cash into the rocket.

The week I stacked my KTM I had lined up one of my mates to make me a 3" exhaust system, so it wasn't so bad when I couldn't drive it while he had it in his workshop. Got him to knock up a full 3" system from the turbo right out for $700 installed. Very happy with the note shes punching out now.

Since its my last week on holidays (before i go back on light duties) i figured i should install my ebay special catch can. Still surprised at how easy it was to pipe up and install. My older brother helped me out fitting it all up and installing it due to my lack of working arms. Bent up a couple of brackets in the vice drilled some holes and made some reducers. Not bad for near on $150:

Chuck up a video or sound of the exhaust! Be good to hear something different to a mass produced system.

Yeah been looking at something like that, just gotta find a set up i like. As I add more stuff im running out of room under the bonnet. Just gotta remember to save some space for some air horns down the track (hilux horns are s#!%house)

Dan's Lux - New Wheels

PostPosted: Sat, 17 Jan 2015 9:46 +0000
by n0_pAnCaKeS
Well my Christmas / New years spending spree has come to an end with the addition of some new wheels and tyres :D

Ended up going with CSA Jackals with a 25 offset. I was advised to go with the Yokohama Geolander A/T's 265/75/16 and they are pretty sweet, plus they don't rub on anything

So this is my next project:

Image

Scored a free air compressor tank off my brothers mate, just needed a couple of fittings. Gonna have to knock up some right angle brackets to fasten it to the under side of the tray. Alot of stuffing around and crawling around under the tray

Got the tank in under the tray this morning little bit disappointed with where i want to mount the tank.

Image

Got the tank in so I could see how i would mount it to the base of the tray.

Image
Image

Once the tank is in where it will be mounted the spare wheel hits the bottom of the tank and puts it on a bit of an angle. Not sure if this is going to cause any kind of problem Im just not happy the way it looks

Image
Stripped the tank down this afternoon, got the sander out and some sand paper and then gave it a couple of coats of paint.

Got motivated enough tonight to put the tank back in after its paint job

Image

Image

Cant see a whole lot without getting right in under the tray so im happy with how it looks now. Just gotta get some air line and fittings and its all set to go :)

After the tank was in thought i should get some photos of it flexing

Soon realized the Toyota bar will need be changed

Went for a day trip out in Toolangi state forest this morning. Good bit of 4x4 out there, did some medium tracks heading in from the Syliva Creek Road side of the forest.

Me and my girlfriend in my Lux
My brother and his wife in his 2014 BT-50

A small river crossing heading up to a fairly steep and rutted out track.

Did some more gnarly hills but didn't get a chance to get the camera out. On out way back home we stopped in at the family owned farm and messed around for a bit. Decided to climb out of the old dam bank for some fun

How much pressure are you running in that air tank?
