Nice work on the Hilux. It's going down a very similar path to mine. Plus I've got an Evo X too :-)

I havn't updated this for a while, but finally have something for you all to see.

Just installed a roof top tent, now I can't wait to go camping :D

Image

Image

Image

This is the inside, nice foam mattress

Image

Image

All supported by an internal frame that bolts onto the tray, forgot to take a picture of this, ill do that next time.

You will also notice i have put an LED strip under the awning, provides nice light when sitting under the canopy at night with very little current draw, i think i'll put some of these inside of the tent too.

Image

Image

And also i installed a tablet holder, this will run my HEMA maps and any other navigation stuff on my Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5

Here it was when out camping and all in use.

Image

Next on my list to do is get some new tires, i have been looking around and think i might go for tyres in 265/75/16 with some 16x7 +20 sunrasias

I want mud terrain tyres but also dont want too much road noise as i probably spend most of the time on the road, does anyone have any suggestions for a reasonably quiet MT tire?

Set up looks good.

Not too experienced with muddies, but an alternative may be Cooper ST Maxx or MT P3's, they're a "hybrid" all terrain, 50% mudd / 50% road. Pretty quiet on road and handle offroad well.

Super clean rig mate!
Love the evo too. My favourite model. They just scream tough! I'd love one, one day

Have not updated this for a while and I still didn't take all the pictures I wanted to take, i'll get around to it.

For now, ill post what i have.

I put on a new tyre and rim combo.
Achillies Desert Hawk XMT tyres, 265/75/r16 with 16x7 sunraysia style rims +20 or +30 I cant remember...
Very pleased with them so far, allthough they are ofcourse quite noisy on the road anything over around 85kph

Image

A while ago i did the rear seat mod, back here for now i just keep my sand tracks because they went all discoloured on the roof rack in the sun. opens up the space to use for other stuff if needed.

Image

Image

Few other things i have done but not noted or have good pictures for:

Jerry can holder on the roof rack
9KG gas tank holder on the roof rack (BBQ gas)
put on new oricom ANU1000 town and country UHF antenna pack
Permanently installed LED light strip in roof top tent

Have also just ordered some more rear lighting for night time 4wding.

Looking at getting a solar pannel for those longer camp stays, and also hopefully getting some rock sliders made up soon.

Another quick update, haven't taken any proper photos yet.

Installed some more rear lighting
Image

Made a set of sliders with my welder friend, heres some photos of the progress of them being made and test fitted, they are currently getting powdercoated so not installed yet.

Image

Image

Image

Installed a 100w solar panel on the roof to run all my accessories on longer stay trips.
Connects up to my cTek d250s battery charger
Image

Also put in a voltmeter to easily keep an eye on my battery
Image

Up next to install the sliders, and perhaps an on board 12v water system.
Stay tuned.

Heres some new pics of a few thigns, and a few new things i have added.

The sliders were poweder coated and installed.
Image

Also added rated recovery points onto the front.
Image

and the other side
Image

and from the rear
Image

and a close up
Image

Next, i did end up installing a water tank, its 39L and sits in the right hand side of the drawer system.

Image

Its all safe for drinking water, uses a 12v water pump
Image

get decent flow out of it, enough for rinsing things down - could use it to shower or wash dishes and fill water bottles.
Image

Here is also a better picture of the new rear lighting
Image

And also a better picture of the solar panel on the roof rack
Image

Also got a new camp cooker, i just leave this up here ontop of the fridge
Image

Also a better shot of the roof top tent support bars, probably seen them before but puts the weight on the tub rather than the fiberglass canopy.
Image

And another view from ontop
Image

I got a rechargable LED lenser torch, i like these because they have a nice magnetic USB charger, mounted it onto the drawer system and hard wired it in so i can always have a fully charged torch on hand.
Just put a USB socket inside that left hand wheel arch area for it to plug into neatly out of sight.
Image

And finally, i also installed a high lift jack and shovel mount on the roof rack

I havn't posted for a while so I have a bit of an update since last time.
Well I did some night time 4wding out on the power lines track and did a little panel damage on the rear tub a while ago, it it was nothing major but bugged me for ages, i had a look on the web and found one come up on gumtree in the right colour and near to my place, bought this one in good nick for $400 and sold my damaged one for $200 so for only $200 fixed my damaged tub

It was a pretty major job to change it over though, first of all have to remove the roof top tent
Image

Lucky had a stacker at work to help with removing this.
You can see the damage on this side around the tail light, there is also damage on the left side of the tub, hence why i wanted to replace it.
Image

Removed all the drawers, all the wiring, water tank, aux battery, support bars for roof tent, everything out basically and then the tub off
Image

New tub on
Image

Then the canopy back on
Image

Did the wiring as neat as i could as I went, wiring up to the solar panel and the led strip in the awning
Image

Re-installed all the wiring back in the left side in the void left of the drawer system
Image

Image

Image

Image

This time I also put in some seals on the tailgate to try stop some dust coming in
Image

Got the drawer back in
Image

wiring all tucked in the left cubby
Image

back on the road and moving, it came with a de-badged tailgate which i quite liked but the missus said it looks gay without Toyota written on it so i swapped the tailgates after this

Image

It was all a bit of a mad rush to get it back together, I finished the job pretty much the day before going on a 5 day trip down south
Image
Image
All went well and nothing failed

Sorry for the late reply, it was not a branded one - I got it from an ebay store called 'southportautorecyclers' but they don't have the item listed any more.
It had this description if you want to find something similar: 48" HI HIGH LIFT JACK FARM WITH ROOF RACK MOUNTING BRACKETS 4WD 4x4 3000kg *NEW*

The recovery points I bought from opposite lock, cant remember the brand. They fit fine for me, maybe a little bending and squeezing the side bash plate type things at either side under the bull bar but not hard from what I remember
