awesome build! Great work too!
Must be spinning some wheel with that torque though :D
Are you running the standard LSD or a locker or is that future work?

There is a guy in Brizzy that was/is selling a supercharged 2.7 work mate. Meet little set up. Still got his number. Was running 6psi or something.

This would be hela fun in the wet. Have any videos of what she sounds like with the turbo?

There was a black one on ebay a while back for 10G

Mick.....there will not doubt be more to the build, I'm just having a bit of a rest for a while. The next steps will be quite expensive though with probably forged pistons and rods? gearbox? diff?

Ryano....You'd be surprised it hooks up pretty well, I'm only running 225's and there is only slight wheel spin in 1st gear. Its just the standard lsd.

06lux... I have no vid's yet, I'll try to get some up just need to find a good "private road". As for driving in the wet or on dirt as soon and it comes on boost it steps out all over the place.

If your gonna go the length for new internals, why not get the 4.6 stroker kit they sell in the USA?

It would be nice to put the stroker kit in. I haven't found any info on anyone who has done it and has the results.

They say there is no substitute for cubes but I figure 5 or 10 extra pound would be a pretty good substitute.

My god, 4.6L Turbo 1GR. Do want. If only i could order that kit and some premade manifolds through work, Supercheap has its limits :( gawddamn.

Im already up for a new clutch V6T, any ideas on the box upgrades? Wouldnt mind a 6th gear ;)

I'd love that kit but at about $6k US I think I'd rather buy a second hand camper trailer first.

The following thread is about a Turbo Tacoma build, it has some really good info even though tacomas are slightly different to hiluxs. It help me out for a lot of the little details like, oil and water lines for the turbo etc. You have to sift through a lot of bull s**T at times. They use the thread like a general chat room from time to time. This guy is obviously not shy to open his wallet.

http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-ge ... -nevr.html

He used a T56 six speed manual using a kit. He only has an awd transfer case for it though which is no good to me for 4x4ing (no low range). You can buy a blank flange adaptor for the back of the t56 and then make it mate up to what ever transfer you want.

You can also buy an adaptor to go from 1gr to chev auto's, (t350/400 etc) which Swould be strong but I would like a 4th gear for the highway.

The standard one is standing up to some moderate punishment now without signs of blowing.

So to tell you the truth Mick I wouldn't have a clue which box/transfer to go for if I upgraded. Any one got any suggestions?

900 NM!!!!! OMG! That's 137% increase in torque!

That's mind blowing.

Is the bottom end stock, or upgraded? Compression Ratio?

Its the original factory motor, I have put 20,000km on now since the turbo. there is 240,000km on the clock now and no signs of burning any oil etc. I use an oil catch can with a filter built in it and there is no excessive oil build up on the filter just a light coating therefore there is no major blow by. As for compression ratio I think they are 10:1 from factory.

Amazing the stock block can take so much torque!

"Care was also taken to ensure gearbox could be removed with crossover pipe and dump pipe still in place."

hey mate.
Sorry to dig up an old post but i was hoping you has some pics of how you ran the cross over pipe (prefferably with box out and from behind the engine) and how the complete turbo manifold system looks all mocked up before final install?

im looking at doing this to my 07 2wd hilux and it would make it heaps easier if i could see what worked for you? :D

cheers mate

Huge power champ awesome. So now is the truck still running?? Which went first gearbox, diff, spline or motor? Iv'e got a trd charger on a 2010 4x2 dual cab and so far I have had to rebuild or replace all of the above except the mighty 4L. Have you taken this thing to the drags? If so what did it do. I am always interested in the performance of a vehicle that perhaps should not be so high. Love your work

Not that I can challenge it, but I'd be interested to see what it would run over the 1/4 as well 8-)

Shane, sorry for the late reply, I sold this ute not long back as I had to get a wagon for the family  . I tried to sell it for six months or so with the turbo on it without much luck so I took the turbo gear off and sold it standard.

I have all the turbo bits and pieces in the shed if you or anyone else is interested in buying them, I would prefer to keep the computer for future projects as I probably won't get what they are worth second hand, and I would just have to buy another one anyway.

I would cut the turbo manifold/exhaust/turbo and waste gate loose for $1000. Turbo has an oil leak along shaft both into compressor housing and exhaust, it is fully functional though exhaust is a bit smoky (not sure if seals can be replaced). If someone is serious they can pm me, I have most bits from the build, fuel pump and clutch kit was sold in the car. Not asking for excessive prices for bits would be just happy to see them go to a good home.

Tregger

I never broke a thing except, smoked standard clutch, and smashed aircon compressor from not having the computer set up to turn the aircon off at high revs it was an expensive lesson.

Tregger/Jap

Would have loved to run it down the 1/4 mile as it is the only number that I take note of, dynos are just a tuning tool and numbers can vary a lot between different dynos and dyno settings. But since they closed the Townsville strip Mackay is the closest one so I didn't bother. It did a high 12s low 13s on those phone app things if you can believe them. On private road of cause.
