Thanks for the support. Getting excited to see it back on the rd with the new bar. 8-)

Indeed! I thought they'd get a laugh seeing the bullbar off too after it happened. At least next time I go out with those two the car will be capable

Re: Jaybags' Hilux - Slow build - Axis bar now on

Postby jaybags on Thu, 30 Jan 2014 4:57 +0000

So I picked my car up this morning, finally!
Axis bar, looks awesome! Though now my spotties don't fit.. those cheap-o eBay ones backing are too long, so i'd need to cut into the grill or do something stupid to try fit those on. Might just sell 'em for cheap, gonna look at Vision X spotties later on I think.

Taking my scoop back to get re-painted this weekend hopefully. The guy who done it slacked off, didn't prepare it properly, and I got it back with little silicon holes through the paint, little chips and cracks from the fibre-glass and dust and nicks that he hadn't rubbed down. Normally he was pretty good, known him for quite a while.

Also, i'm not sure the panel beaters fitted the Axis bar properly. From what I knew of the bar, it sat pretty flush. The panel beater brushed it off saying "that's how the bars are". So I contacted Matt from MR, waiting on a response after he told me to send him a few pics and he'll let me know how to adjust it, or if it can be adjusted. - Not sure how it would be though, sussed out the mounting points and it looks like there's no room to adjust it?

Either way, i'm still pretty happy with the bar. Worst case scenario i'll get some rubber made up to fill the gaps.

Now to put together my casholas for my wheels.
Cheers,
Jay

Looking good mate! There needs to be a bit of a gap there to allow for the movement of the cab. Would have looked better if he painted the bottom of the head lights though... Especially when your head lights are on at night.

Ahh, didn't even think of that, genius!

Suppose the panel beater didn't want to do anything I may not like.

Might test how the lights look at night, if they look retarded I'll mask 'em up and paint 'em. I'll get the angel lights later anyway, they'll probably suit better too right?
Cheers,
Jay

 a worked RB26 would sound cool bouncing off the rev limiter going up a hill.

Good to see a quick turn around for you with the panel beater and no piss arounds :)

Oh and the AXIS bar looks better than the ARB , but only slightly better than faceoff 8-)
