Slow clap for the expensive recov point. Thats an epic mod for airflow too, Holy crap  .

Its not an ATV winch, might be the wrong page , ARB have it listed as 4WD winch. Whats code do you have?.

The Warn Magnum 10,000lb winch is $988 . I think that is best bang for buck,, and its a warn.
I am not game to try a cheaper winch than that.
The code is W88430 , but that brings up the 12,000lb version. it does exist. im looking at a full price list ;)

The Axis is gona look mean 8-)

Did your mate learn how to 4wd on youtube?

For a couple hundred more get yourself an avenger mako 12,000lb with a life time warranty.

Wonder if I can market the face-off. It'd be free... 8-) Maybe newvembers next raffle prize?

The hardest part was trying to fit all my camping gear in the back aswell as a whole bloody bullbar to get home.

blkrota wrote:Its not an ATV winch, might be the wrong page , ARB have it listed as 4WD winch. Whats code do you have?

Yep.. I def had the wrong one. eBay came up with an ATV magnum which was about $600. Wasn't WARN I don't think either.

Was also looking at the Avenger Mako last night, doing a bit of research and found an article on winch comparisons from 4x4 mag. Was hoping to spend about $600 on a winch rather than the $1000. Is it really worth spending the extra? The Avenger did look good.

Also been looking at the Runva and ORU winch now.. and done a bit of a search and some people said the ORU's pretty good for a cheap winch?

BIGFOOTJR wrote:Did your mate learn how to 4wd on youtube?

Hahaha    I honestly think he did. He's a really good mate and will do literally anything for you at the drop of a hat.. but he really does need to stop thinking he's a bloody know it all. The worst part is he thinks it's ARB's fault and the bullbar shouldn't have come off...

Though.. his car only got home on a tow truck too, he busted the wheel bearing whilst up there. Instant karma.

Haha, we were all saying how it looks tougher now without the bar... maybe the cars name should become and stay predator

The misses wasn't too bad (surprisingly  ), she was more worried about me calming down than anything. :?

It did, a lot Kyle. A few cans of JD and I was a happy man again though..

A little update.
Damage got quoted over $10k (of course, the panel shops made a little more with it being an insurance claim). And assessor approved the Axis winchbar as part of the quote, so I no longer have to pay a difference for the upgrade! 8-)

All new parts get ordered Monday, hopefully the cars back on the road by the end of next week.

Also got quotes on wheels.
Going to get 32" Mickey Thompson P3's on 15x8 sunnies. Best I got quoted was $336 a tyre. $1,660 for a set of 4, or $2060 for a set of 5 (with the steel wheels) from Lindsay tyres. Thinking of getting the 4 for now, and the 5th before I head out offroad. Got a trip to Japan coming up next month so don't want to leave myself with no spending money.

Days are goooooooood. 8-)
Cheers,
Jay

Yeah who would have thought a silly mistake could be so costly? Thank fark for insurance!

Haha, no recovery points as of yet.. and the lux won't be going anywhere near anything other than road till I get them.
Spoke to Matt from MR about the recovery points, they're still developing them to accommodate the Axis bar's mounting and are still 6-8 weeks away. Hoping they come out sooner than later. Could prob look at 4x4 All Terrain for some, but just not 100% if they'll fit over the Axis bars support brackets.
Cheers,
Jay

That bullbar is epic man. And I vote one for the $1000 winch over the $600 one.

Nice build btw.

Just need to wait and see all the "legit 8-) " hilux insurance claims grow now...

Yeah that's what I'm thinking. 6 weeks will go pretty quick anyway.

I'm in the northern suburbs. Def keen to hit some tracks when you're ready. 8-)
