Re: Oggy build's a roof console

So next on the list was roof console 8-) Saw a few home made jobbies on here and thought i can do that ;even if it involves wood :? First off was make a template Image Then work out how i would attach it to the roof? I wasn't overly impressed with the ones that attach to the sun visor holes ,so removed the sunnies holder (which i wanted to incorporate anyway). And found the perfect solution. Image The sunnies/map light holder attaches to the roof using the two yellow plastic grommits and two lugs that clip over the roof lining. However, the two holes (circled) will take a 7/16 bolt(don't quote me on that ... it was 12 months ago  ). I just put a nut on the bolts to lock up against the frame of the console and to stop me from screwing it to far up and dinting the roof.

Next was the console build 8-) I had a few things in mind for this that the others don't have. I wanted it to have the uhf concealed with the mike out of the way. easily useable storage for things like dvd's. And i wanted to retain the sunnies holder/map lights. Finally it had to have a 6 gang switch for my accessories 8-) 8-) Image I used 9 mm mdf as it is reasonably strong yet not to heavy ;) Image Attached the two frames to the console with extra wide rivets, so it wouldn't pull through the wood. Image cost me $9 to build and $100 to have upholstered :? but it was still cheaper than a bought one ;) It's lined with a spongy type of material that looks remarkedley similar to the head lining . I got him to do two layers so it's a bit softer to touch (and on your head ). The storage area is done in carpet and the netting is doubled over and a piece of elastic used to allow easy access for hands Image Image and all lit up Image Image

Re: Oggy extract's a digit (finally) camera installs

Bought one of the A-sure units some time back. It now has issues loading the navigation software :? But i guess one of the main reasons i did buy it was to have a camera setup .
Image
set the camera up on a angle to allow good visibility of my towbar (which in itself is different in that it has a pin through the middle of the ball that allows me to pull things with a tongue) It also aids when 45 degree angle parking 8-)
Image
Image
Now , here comes Oggy's uniqueness  (i think  ) decided to go with a front mount camera as front visibility when wheeling (or even when parking) is limited.
Image
It's a shutter job , so when you turn it on you don't see giant bugs stuck to it or stone chips 8-)
Image
Also stuck it in the slot in the bull bar , above the winch 8-)
Image
view out windscreen.
Image
and from front camera 8-)

Forgot to mention both cameras can be switched on (individually) at any time. Used two custom rocker switches. One turns the camera on and the second switches the power between the two. We used a av cable that was a female end with two male plugs feeding into it (may be the other way around, but you get the idea  ) . Works a treat 8-) 8-)
