Ok, so I finally got into gear and sent my flares that I bought 8 months ago to get painted so when my wheels come in I can put them on straight away without any worries. Will update when I get them back. :)

I have also started planning on my new tray and canopy. It's gonna be a shortened tray like the pootrol I previously posted a picture of. Image
Any feedback, good or bad, is very welcome but leave my poor Microsoft paint skills out of it. Haha :)

Only new to Hilux, but loving every minute of it, I have 2 questions, I was recently on a fishing trip on Fraser island and my front diff would not lock the hubs in. Has anyone ever had this problem before? And second, what is the rear seat mod? Any help would be appreciated.

Nah mate, I have never had that problem! I have had it not disengage but all you have to do is put it on reverse and go backwards a little bit. Never had it not engage four wheel drive though

It worked in the morning to leave the camp and disengaged when on the hard sand, when returning to camp and about to tackle soft sand it would not re engage the hub lock. Got under the Lux and found that the front drive shaft was engaged, both H4 and L4, so not transfer case, :( but the indicator light on the dash would not go on, and I didn't have 4WD. Gear ratio would still change in L4. The most embarrasing was still to come, towed through the soft stuff by a BT50.

Well that sounds like it is probably in the front diff then. If the drive shaft in to the diff is engaging but it's not actually driving the wheel then it would be in the diff. For some reason it isn't driving the CV's. Never had that problem mate so sorry that I can't help. I'll have a quick search and see if I can find anything on here and point you to the thread.

I like it mate! I would throw a reverse can on it! And dual spares is always a great idea, neat, compact, all good!

yeah, will def be putting in a reverse cam. its way too hard to see what im doing behind me now with the canopy i have at the moment. its a good thing its a steel tray and other cars always come off second best when i back into them.

have made a few more adjustments to the plans since posting that picture up. will put a new one up soon.

With mud flaps on now and a few other tweaks with the head board.

Yeah looks good, the one thing I can't stand is lack of visibility, at the moment I can't see my steel tray through the back window, can be nervous in reverse in them right parks, make the guards wider than necessary if you are contemplating bigger tread, my tray is a good 2" short of the edge of my tires haha

Yeah that's a good idea. I have no idea how much wider they will need to be. I'll bolt my mates 35's up to give me an idea of how far out they should be.
Cheers!

Looks good mate. Can't wait to see the canopy finished. I made my canopy only 1600 long and only just wide enough to meet my body width. I know its practical with 1800x1800 but having the canopy as wide as the body has been a great thing off road. For my practical reasons I opted for 1 spare with 2 jerry holders on back. I always carry a 20 of water for work to wash hands and stuff. If I want a 2 nd spare ill put it inside back to back with the external one for my cape trip etc.

Yeah, I'm planning on inly making mine 1400 long. That will make it in line with the end of the chassis rail. Hope it will work out. So how wide is yours exactly?
The Jerry's is a good idea but the plan is to put them in a cage up on the roof rack that I build off the canopy.

I think its 1600 wide roughly. It's dead in line with the body.

righto, so ive finally got annoyed with my indicators. since installing my XROX bar, my indicators have been flashing really fast, as if i have a blown globe. this was because my old bullbar had indicators in it. my question is, how do i make it do they flash normal?

also, i added a 24" led bar the other day and i got my newvember price from Matty yesterday so when i install them, ill take some photos and show you guys. a huge thanks to Matty again for donating the prizes and everything. was for a good cause and im happy because i got to walk away from an awesome trip with some new angel eye headlights!! 8-) 8-)

Be sure to post pics up when they're in!

Wish I could help on the indicators... maybe add a set of indicators into the xrox bar? LED strip style?
Cheers,
Jay
