Well just got back from my first 4x4 trip (when I say 1st I mean it I've never 4wd before) after googling '4x4 NSW' the first posts where around the Litgow area so that's where we headed for our week and a half off.
Basically stock lux apart from tyres did remarkably well. I was a bit nervous at first but the more I did the more I realized just what they can do.

Bent the stock side step but that was never going to stay so it gives me a good excuse to go and get some rock sliders

She now has over 10,000K on the clock

Now next weekend I want to wire up some under bonnet lights and I was going to put some on my rear cupboards as I noticed at night the door light doesn't get over enough to see in my draws.

Hello
I would like some advice I'm thinking about mounting my High Lift and shovel on the uprights for the head board its aluminum but seems quite solid it has two bolts on the upright into the side of the chassis rail then a further three going into the lower headboard, I'll be putting the base of the mounting kit on the horizontal rail which is 500mm from the base of the tray, my other thought is to put the rail that is there lower (level with the top of the tool box and put another one just above the top of the mount kit.
Does anyone think that mounting a 60" high lift and long handle shovel here would be a bad move.

Thanks in advance

Well I got around to fitting my under bonnet lights (thanks to the help from Rocket55) I used LED strip 5630 apparently the brightest and fitted a little inline switch that can dim them down also put in a door switch in case I forget to turn them off.
You can see it was pretty dark out, they work brilliant even in daytime as you can see down to the oil filter without casting shadows.
I did run into one problem after removing the 3m tape the copper connections every 3 would earth out from the aluminum to the bonnet so I had to insulate it every 3 which got a bit tedious anyway it worked in the end.

Now what to do with the other 8 meters of the lights Ideas?
I was think about putting some along the tray top rail for camping as my current work lights are to bright for just a bit of background light at night.

You could put them under the guards/sills as rock lights?

Well I got around to changing over my switches to custom rocker LEDs they look quite nice, the stock holes require a fair bit of filing to make them fit in though.

This lighting chart doesn't really show how good the HID Spots are as well I should've looked for a straighter road to show their benefit.

Hey Jake cheers, yeah the switches are sweet Suzuki's pretty damn good to.

Richie
Yeah that's exactly what it does its a momentary three way switch from Jaycar it has three prongs the middle goes to the positive on my volt meter, the top one (its backwards the lug below position 1 is the lug for position 2) I just tapped into one of my extra cig sockets as they are constant from the aux battery and the other prong goes straight back to the positive on the starting battery via a 2a fuse (you could tap into another sauce but I didn't want to use the original cig socket as then it will only work when the ignition is on and I couldn't be bothered poking around looking for a constant off the starting battery).

What mounting brackets did you use to fit your 30" light bar?

Considering this, but just a little unsure as to what brackets to use.

Cheers Matt

LDH the only nice ones I could find where on eBay in China
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/321179467997?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
Then I needed to get 1m of 50x1.5mm rubber (that's for 4 clamps) for two reasons one being that the clamp is ever so slightly to big and two it stops the clamp from marking the bar.

Yeah they fit good but do require allot of filing of the sides I started off with the ones that look like oem but unfortunately they just don't have the range that the rockers do the good news is though as the stock ones press against the top and bottom you can go back to oem without any tell signs. :D
