Thanks everyone for the comments regarding the side steps, looks like i might rethink the side steps/brush rails setup. Finding that airbag in the pillar was disappointing, it was probably the neatest way of mounting them Autron gauges, I know you can buy them infill panels and mount them in the little storage pockets either side of the stereo area, but find them too useful for putting stuff in. Have bought a cheap 2 gauge universal dash pod, so ill see if I can make it look ok. On a better note, I fitted the new uhf " icom ic-440n " the other day, and am very happy at the finished result, the brain box is mounted under the centre console out of sight with the microphone cord coming out through one of the blank switch slots. The ic-440n is a uhf that is fully controlled through the microphone, all the buttons, display screen and the speaker are all contained in the mic. I also finished off the secondary fuel filter install. It's a Stanadyne Fuel Manager 30 micron unit with the clear water trap bowl on the bottom. It's mounted on the drivers side instead of the more common mounting option on the passenger side. I did this because I have a dual battery tray already mounted on the passenger side, I know that you can mount the filter near the second battery tray, but what a pain in the arse to change the oil filter. It's actually a very very neat install and looks like its factory fitted, I'm very happy with it. It's plumbed between the fuel tank and the factory fuel filter, and Not between the factory filter and the engine. I used 10mm I.D fuel line to keep the flow rates high and toyota service department happy. I'll post some pics when I get a few spare minutes.

Not much at all mate. The KM2 is probably the best of the muddies for highway use. Had them on the last Hilux and got 70000 out of them. They weren't looked after either. Do get the smallest amount of rubbing on the mudflaps at full lock though.

Totally agree with Homer72, the km2's are awesome, I've have them on both my hilux's and probably never bother with anything else, they wear well, hardly make a sound down the highway, grip excellent on the wet bitumen, are good on the beach and fantastic in the mud, perfect all round tyre I recon.

I'll try and take a picture over the weekend and post it up. Its a really good alternative to mounting it on the passenger side where it's already clustered.

There is a perfect spot to mount the brainbox of the gme and icom uhf's that have a full function microphone and its under the centre console on the front side of the main storage compartment. Mine is a manual and its fits perfectly, haven't had a chance to check a auto hilux to see if they have the same space.

As promised here are the pictures of the fuel filter install and my new hella 4000"s.. ARB sell the bracket that the fuel filter is mounted on, its branded Terrain Tamer and it was $40, bit steep for such a simple bracket, but not worth stuffing around with... I went to Pirtek for the brass elbows that come out of the fuel filter housing, it took some time to find some brass elbows that didnt reduce the flow rate, but did end up finding some that kept the 10mm inside diameter or very close to it anyway... I wrapped the fuel lines with spiral wrap just for a bit more protection and to make it look a little neater. I installed a Revolution HID kit into the hella 4000"s which puts the ballast and ignitor all inside the lights..

Hey Jason,

Just had the same suspension fitted to my 2012 SR, Calloffroad/Billies struts on the front with Kings KTFR 101 H springs and got a full 2" lift over standard (780 mm rim to guard) the clip is on the second lowest setting ( marked 2") carries the Sahara bar and dual battery real nice but haven't been off road just yet.

Got the 300 kg springs in the rear but may have underestimated the amount of crap I carry as I only got an inch of lift. Kings are going to reset a new set of 300 s with an extra inch of lift so should solve the problem.

I used to live in Gatton some years ago and would do the trails from there through Ravensbourne to Hampton quite a lot and was keen to do that track again with someone with recent local knowledge if anyone was interested.

Will watch your build with interest.

Considering you can't put an air compressor there anymore with the ABS that's a good way to use the space.

I know you said earlier that you got your bullbar color coded it's hard to tell in that pic with the low light. Have you got a pic of it in more daylight?

Ive only really done them tracks around Ravensbourne and hampton on the dirt bikes. There was some awesome tracks around Murphys Creek but have been closed down due to the motorcross club buying the land, sucks cause you could drive around down there all day and not do the same track twice and there were tracks for every skill level although more suited to older cars due to being a bit overgrown. Would love to do a weekend of 4wding and camping at Janowen Hills 4wd park which is out near Allora between Toowoomba and Warwick with a bunch of good like minded people.

Shame to here about Murphy's Creek, but I here that JanOwen Hills is quite good, I think that Ben(White lux) and T dog went there earlier in the year.

Post it up, I reckon you would get a good response from the other SEQ members.
