WelI have finally updated my 89 LN106 SR5. Sold Nov 2011
Image
Image
It had stacks of mods and went well till the motor went bang. Stripped as many accessories as I could.

Then I picked up a 92 single cab
Image
Really didn't like it so I traded it in after 3 weeks for a 02 3 litre Diesel extra cab.
Image
It was so slow it wasn't funny even after changing gear ratios to suit the 33's

So I decided to trade it on a new Hilux. I placed a order on the 21st of June after being told my model and color choice would be delivered in 10 days......10 weeks later
I picked up my 2012 SR Dual Cab with VSC Pack and Air
Image
Image

Now the mods start.

Getting the windows tinted 2morrow

Also have some accessories ready to install
Buds MR front, engine and transfer bash plates
Buds sliders infilled with dimple die holes
Safari Snorkel
Warn High Mount Winch, wireless control, 6hp Motor and 50m of synthetic rope
ARB Battery tray, 120 aH deep cycle Battery and Piranha DBE 180s battery monitor
Quattro Elite 35W HID Driving lights
Uniden UH7760NB UHF Radio
ARB Twin Motor Compressor
Rear ARB diff lock
Piranha Power Shower
666 high idle kit
Monster Rides windscreen sticker ( good for at least 15kw )

Also order will order soon
Axis Hybrid Plate an Tube Bullbar
Reckon suspension

Still trying to work out which wheels I can fit. I am leaning towards some Raceline Raptor's in a 17 x 9 in a 0 offset
Image
I will be wrapping them with 285-70-17 BFG KM2's

Cheers Scott

Over the last couple of days have done some updates.

A couple of easy but worth while mods, I have done the seat belt and key in the ignition beeper, yes thank you silence at last.:-)

Also fitted the snorkel. I pulled the flare off to make it easier to access the inner guard. In the process I broke ever panel clip that holds the flare, as well as have to cut 7 of the clips that hold the plastic inner guard on. In the end it cost me $31 to replace all the clips I broke.:-(
All turned out good in the end, here are some photos

Finished product.

When I had finished fitting the Snorkel I decided to see how much travel my 5 day old Hilux had, on my RTI Ramp. What happened was quite a surprise, I selected 1st H4 and started to drive up the ramp, expecting it to go up only so far and start to spin a tyre as the rear wheel comes off the ground as comes to the end of the articulation.

But as I drove up, not being able to see what the wheels where doing, it went up further than I was expecting, to a point that just seemed a little too far in a new fourby. So I pulled the handbrake on and jumped out to find the rear wheel about 6" off the ground, and I could have kept on going further but had no idea where the tipping point is.

So it seems that the factory traction control works a lot better than I thought it would.

Couple of updates

Going for a drive south 2morrow to watch some Offroad racing at Kellavie for the 20th anniversary. It's about a 4 hour drive so I will be able to see how the fuel economy goes on a long drive.

The misses asked how we were going to protect our clothes bags in the back of the ute. So off to the local dealer to get a tonneau cover, luckily they where able to get one in over night, and half the price of the local 4wd shop. So I spent a couple of hours today fitting it.
Image
Also added this to the back window, should improve the performance out of sight :D
Image

Fitted my Buds Customs transfer case slider, excellent product and easy to fit.

Also I did the power window mod so I have power to the windows all the time.

My Raceline wheels arrived in Aus yesterday, now just have to wait till next Thursday for them to make it to Tas.

Now I have to wait for my Axis Bullbar and Rekon suspension to turn up so I can fit some more of my accessories, Warn Hi Mount Winch, HID Spotties, UHF Aerial and buds bash plates and sliders

Cheers Scott

Try re-sizing your pics!

Hey Jake Northdown is on the northwest coast near Devonport

Only just saw this post so sorry I didn't see you at Kellavie. Did you see the boys from ARB Hobart tackle the Mud Run, thought they did really good in the Hilux with the size tyres, compared to all the Pootrols with the huge muddies.

I only use Tapatalk to look at the forum and take photos on my phone and upload them, I didn't realize there was a problem as you have to click on all photos to see them properly on a iPad. What is the ideal size to resize them ?

Yeah Max I hope there is enough room so I don't have to do too much cutting and shutting to fit the High Mount in, I don't want to change the look of it.

I think there'd be room but you will have to cut a bit out of the top plate to fit. Good luck with it.

If you do do any cutting by chance, try and keep a template of what, where and how much....just in case ;)

Well I have just finished fitting my Rekon kit. The diff drop kit was frustrating to fit, took hours to work it and a lot of swearing.
Used OME 2" lift medium springs in the back ended up with 55mm lift in back.
I adjusted the front to 805mm from flare to bottom of rim, so that is 70mm higher than standard. Will see how it settles over the next week or so.

I also fitted up my Raceline Raptor wheels that turned up this week. Had to fit standard tyres, will have to save up for some muddies.
Image
Will get some better photos tomorrow, I am off to Sandy Cape to do some volunteer work for parks and wildlife, so we can work towards keeping the area open.

Here are some pics of my trip to Sandy Cape on the west coast of Tassie on the weekend. The Rekon Susp worked a treat, on road driving was stiffened up, and Offroad it soaked up the bumps beautifully, couldn't be happier with it. It has settle 20mm lower after my 500 klm's over the weekend. So I will have to adjust it back up agin this week.

Yeah I went around. I thought if the cruiser with 35" mudders and twin lockers couldn't get through, Me with road slicks and open diffs didn't have a chance.
