If you like it then it's good.

Joe I assume by your comments that you have never tried a sprint booster. I can assure you that you won't need to tell the tester if the sprint booster is on or not as it is in your face obvious by the difference in performance. After you have driven with one on, turning it off is like you have gone into limp mode.
It is a bit like saying rather than buying a faster computer I will tap the keyboard faster to make up the difference

Steve, a couple of questions if I may, where did you score the purple hose for your oil catcher and what size is it?

Thanks

Hi Richard.
I got the Universal kit from Western Filters:http://www.westernfilters.net.au/index.php?cPath=138
The kit came with 5/8" hose which goes to the crank case breather.
I ordered a 1m length of 1" hose to go to the turbo: http://www.westernfilters.net.au/index.php?cPath=27
If I were to do it again I would go with black. The coloured silicon looks good when new but discolours over time.
The thread below might be of use if you haven't already seen before

Hey mate just wondering how you cut your dump pipe??

What have you tried so far ? I wouldn't recommend cutting the dump pipe unless all other measures are exhausted... no pun intended. If you dont live in a remote town buy a single hex or 3/8th drive 12mm socket with 3/8th extension or metrench set and use penetrant for a few days. I didn't have time for the right tools to arrive so cut with a hacksaw blade with a single ended handle. The pipe is thick and takes forever to cut but managed to convince a 1/2 drive impact socket to fit after cutting off. You could try a turbo socket...
Good luck.

Good news JW - what tool did you use?

Yeah dunno on the name of the tool could be one of those turbo sockets they speak of. Basically it's a 12mm socket that grips the nut. Would have been screwed with out it.
Cheers for the help

Weather Shields

PostPosted: Fri, 29 Nov 2013 8:00 +0000
by DeadlyBeast
The wet season is here again - along with it 40+ degree heat and hot steamy cabs.
Why did I take so long?
One reason I didnt install weather shields until now is that I didnt like the look of genuine shields and aftermarket ones looked as if they didnt fit well. I've seen some other shields that fit very poorly - gaps at top of window recess etc.
Saw these:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/4x4-Toyota-Hilux-Weathershield-Protector-2005-2013-/221231631631?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item33826ecd0f
Looked like a good fit but didnt like the 'Vigo' printing on them. Asked the seller if the print could be removed - they were very honest and said "no, not even not even if you scratched it off". Well I thought I could get it off so bought a set.
So purchased the finest wet and dry paper available at the time in town (1400 was the finest I could get)

Sanded as lightly as possible to remove all print

Polished out with Maguiars PlastX. Took ages to remove the abrasions from the 1400 grit. I would have preferred 2000 or more.
Image
For the other side I just used the PlastX and a dremmel buffing wheel - slow speed. The polish flys everywhere and if you run the wheel dry it will 'burn' a hole int the plastic. With lots of polish and a light touch this method was the quickest. After polish can only faintly see the outline of where the printing was (4th pic) - looks like it was put on with a thermal printer.

These do create a bit more pillar blind spot being tinted but happy with the end result and the fit.

Lost Photobucket links scrambled

Thought about posting this in the 'what gotten you upset' thread but it pales to what some guys are going thru.
Anyway... Dont do this:
Thought I would increase the security settings and hit scramble links for future posts - didnt read that it also scrambles previous posts
So loads of pics are down and need to be reassigned correct links to photo bucket.
Just finished redoing the snorkel install guide - took forever

On the bright side of things Bud says he is honestly looking at sending the sliders/rear bar and bash plate on the 10/12 :)

Hate to say this mate but he told me the same thing about my rear bar, bash plates and sliders, said he'd have them in Darwin by Thursday 5/12

Good things take time.
I believe in the product - its quality gear made in Australia.
Have heard of a large supply company taking 9 months to fill an order - so I decided not to use them for my gear.
Preferring not to spend my money with large international companies who may be inclined to be 'too big to care' and less inclined to provide good customer support, I chose to support a small growing business from the good reputation and feedback provided by this forum.
I trust that the gear will come thru as promised

EDIT:
I was so wrong to support this business based on the above assumptions.
Ended up taking 21 months to receive all the gear ordered.
If I was told this from the beginning I would have gone else where. Seriously - who would wait nearly 2 years?
Broken promises after false consignment numbers, stalling tactics, non-reply to emails with plain blue faced lies on top.
Just sad.

Have heard really good customer feedback from Phat Bars in my town. No BS, great product and superb customer service.
