Did the struts come with a sway bar mount spacer e.g. a spacer block to move it down an inch or so ?

I have a 2" TJM xgs lift in mine. On the hoist the boots hit the strut stems but in 7 years of use it has never happened. The sway bar limits travel enough to prevent it. I'm not happy with it but nothing I can do now

Bugger is right

Posted up so others can learn thru my trial
Im determined to make it work though.
The kit looks good but I think there just hasnt been enough field testing on the hilux

Not keen on running without sway bar at least on highway for insurance purposes
No state allows sway bar removal to be engineered
I had a look at my sway bar - looks like I have either installed it 5mm off centre or it has shifted overtime
Will loosen off and move back to centre.

The struts do come with sway bar relocators but I already had MR slimline re-locators installed
The ones in the kit are thick alloy - might try them and see if the radiator bracket fouls the SB

Anyone come across ABS lines getting severed before?

Does anyone know if it is legal to reconnect an ABS line... insurance issue?
Image
Image

In the mean time I have re-routed the ABS line to the back of the bracket and bent the bracket back a few mm.
Image

Lucky the passenger side didnt break thru
Image
Image

Thought I'd replace a bit of the estimated 30ml of CV grease I lost
Air compression made it a bit of a bugger to draw up and syringe the grease - didnt have a spare grease gun
Image
Image
Image

Gave the burred strut stems a tickle up
Image
Image

And the passenger side
Image
Image

About 0.5mm clearance at full extension
Image
Reused the old boot clamp here - more of an experiment to see if it will hold if I had to do this out bush
Will replace it with new clamp when the new strut mount spacers arrive

Nice build DB.
I pulled ABS line twice on my lux but further down than yours. Once i soldered up.. was fine. The next time it broke off the sensor at the wheel, replaced it, was expensive as i had to replace the whole wire.

Most ridiculous thing ever invented for dirt....especially when wet :twisted:Mine was a casualty of a large stick on my first newvember trip. Same stick took out Kyle's abs to

Insurance only becomes a problem when you need it  Besides if you haven't dodgeyed it up, you can always claim it was severed in said accident ;)

This turned up a little while ago
Image
Very well packaged and quality gear. The intercooler alone is 10kg !

Got stuck into thinking about how its all going to fit
Image

Trans cooler had to go - want mad on the idea of having 3 layers in front of the radiator
Image

Condenser was a few shades of pindan darker
Gave it a blow out first - placed cardboard between radiator and condenser so didnt blow straight into radiator
Image

I always keep shade cloth just behind the grille. Amazing how much stuff still gets sucked in there

Gave it a soaking with some CT18, washed of with shower hose followed by Blitz aluminium cleaner in spray bottle.
Not recommending or condoning to use Blitz on radiator - when rinsing and blowing thru it hit the idlers pulleys making surface rust in 5 minutes flat. Not a biggy but If I was to do it again I would use a plastic drop sheet to drop between engine and radiator.
Rinsed well with water, blew it thru, rinse, blow, rinse followed by another blow out and dry with compressed air. It took that many times to see no further trace of the Blitz. Even more seeds and insects bits came out

Came up looking close to new and ready for FMI

Put this aside for spare parts

The mounting brackets add another 850g to the TMI.

Got this in. Snug in a couple of spots but a quality fit.
Image
Took it out over the last couple days, gave a few good runs... This thing runs COLD!
Radiator still runs between 83-85C. Will get some thermal pics up soon

$1600 delivered.

No - not cheap. I know others have just got the core and fabed up there own piping for much less.
Just not an option for where I live and for the amount of time it would have taken stuffing around.

This kit has a massive 600 x 300mm bar and plate core + 2 1/2 inch piping and fittings ready to go.
No measuring, no fuss trying to get bits bent and welded, trial and error bodging up etc
Uses factory mounting rubbers top and bottom - reducing alloy mount fatigue risk with all the corrugations travelled

Only con of this kit is that you need to take the inlet pipe off when cleaning air filter - an extra 1 or 2 minutes
