Def a brilliant idea! Can't help too much with what to use to lose vibration though, I would have gone with the foam
Cheers,

Will have to wait and see if this shield idea works yet!!

Cheers JB - was thinking along the lines of some adhesive spray on the non-exposed side and throwing some hard wearing but soft insulation stuff at it. Just need t find the right "stuff". Then again - foam strip around the lip would be easy

No need to be tentative JB. Easy job - just very time consuming.
A really good write up by the Roo on Pradotech helped out in addition to the thread on this site.

I let this soak with carby cleaner for a day then flushed with water. Some CT18 was also very effective in ridding the rest of the grease.

Image
This came up nice and clean but strangely has surface rust on the centre pivot bar. Moisture???

Think I'll keep these parts now

Thanks to the Roo for the detailed guide.

Crazy downward angle bend

Do you have a video of the sound of this system? Thinking of making my own. Buy the pipe, bends, flanges and weld it up.

Good luck making your own

Builds looking tidy bud. EGR come up a treat. As for the pivot pin on the butterfly valve with the surface rust, i havnt seen many where thats not happening with them. Landcruisers included

Cheers Ross. EGR took some time but only had to do it once so did it right ;)
Surprising about the pivot rust being so common - would have thought the paint would have been of better quality given its location

Late 2014 my partner and I got a great deal on 2 new SR's
Received just in time for Christmas last year
Mine came bog standard

Transferred all the old gear from the old beasty, donated the new side steps from the new truck, put a new roll bar on, gave her a good polish up. She came up a treat. Got got $ for her for the effort

The Mrs got hers with a tray, gen bulbar, tint, and tow bar
The yard ended up looking like a dealership for a while

Plans for the rig are to build a versatile ute capable off road, chucking the dogs in the back, camping, loading the quad bike while staying an economical daily drive around town. Got a "14 SR as there isnt much it doesnt have compared to a SR5.
ADD and a 5 speed Auto were the 2 must haves. Only thing I miss from the old SR5 is the 12V power outlet and driving light wiring - easy fixed.
