Re: Cuzo's Build - update - tie down point under lux

Yea i was told the same thing.

I was also told that all recovery points are shit as they only pull from one side.

I was also told that you can throw a chain over the top of both chassie rails and pull from the rear of the bar so it spreads the load to both sides. I have never done this but it makes sense.

Hmm not meaning to sound negative but watch your weight, there are places where you can use angle instead of tube which is going to be lighter. Have you had a look at a few trays?

I'm just wondering why the extra cross pieces in the 2nd pic? Why not just lay the flooring on the frame as it is in the 1st pic?
That's assuming the picture is taken standing at the rear of the tray looking toward the front. And that the main beams for mounting still have to go underneath?
The alloy floor sounds like a good idea though. If I ever build another tray, I think I'll go steel frame with a screwed in alloy floor.

Yeah, wood damages easier, if it's nice and polished it looks crap after about a month of you throw stuff in it all the time. Ally is the go

in the last photo, yes the two underneath in the midle will be were it bolts to the shazy, at the top of the pic there is some 75 x 50 i,v swaped out the 100 x 50 around the out side as it looked a bit chunky. But still undersided. Though the 100mm sides do make it look stronger and tougher.

40x40 to cary the deck and 50 x 30 to make up the rear for lights and plate.

Going to 45deg cut the cab end then weld, need to get some 50x50 for the dropers at the rear, just looking at what will fit inside the 50x50 to make up a removable rear rack.

Still got to get some plate to infill and create the brackets for the tube for tie downs and to mount the lights and number plate.
