Far out u had heaps of dramas with urs!!! Not good about all the non aligning of holes! I only had one hole I needed a bit of a file on. Would be interesting to see wat problems other members had with theirs. Nice write up mate wish I had something like that to scan over before I fit mine :D

X2 had no dramas on my old truck

Every Hilux is slightly different and something that will fit one truck may need some persuasion on another.

Worked through it easily enough though, and it didnt take to long about 7 cans of courage.

Below:
I have now mounted the spoties behind the grill, looks far better i think
and angle eyes I couldnt resist the thought of going to all this trouble and it seemed unfinished.

And the best part there black so no more white bits under lights.

Cheers, its getting there know, I have a winch on its way, and im thinking about plastic dipping the chrome mirrors, door handles etc

Need to talk to bud about sliders and rear bar ?? :D getting sick of that custom allay look down the sides.
but missis is cracking it cause the US trip is closing in fast

Spoties behind grill ? Top Secret,

Nu it was simple used a piece of aluminium bar I had lying around and bridge it across between the two driving lights and the centre support, all Had to realy do was check it out a little were the centre support was so it sat down.

A recent trip to the Watagans, I rapped the lux in plastic, to slow down the pin stripping, as I was told that some places are just dam tight,

These pics are when I got home.

Plastic removed

This shot you see were the plastic stopped and the scratches start

And a nasty on the bonet that wasnt raped

Conclusion, it looks crap on, took about 2 cans to do it, but works a dam treat.

Started to revamp the custom draws to try and make them more usable,

Decided if I could pull the hole thing out to about half way it would save me trying to climb into the back to get to the storage at the rear window, so V2 was created.

New base for draws with aluminium guides, this will sit on the prototype :D base witch is the old base.
Image

New base and old base in place for trial fit

Rollers, temporary set up to see if the hole concept will work.
Image

The last set seem have a bit of movment whitch muck around with the roller draws and fridge slide, so this time I routed out the layout - you have to be deadly accurate.

Re: Cuzo's Build - update - tie down point under lux

Postby cuzo4x4 on Tue, 13 Aug 2013 9:42 +0000

Thought I would share -

The tie down point under the lux has finaly givin out, now this could have happened on the last Watagans trip, but it was there 2 weeks ago when I washed it, so history

At Newnes i think over a year ago i was yanked out of the creek by this point as I had no recovery point at that stage, so did it crack probably, a hair line,

and the recent trip it probably copped a nock or two,

my gues it fell off a week ago by the rust,

Conclusion never use these as recovery points as one day it will give way.

Lucky I have never used them for a major recovery, but I installed some new recovery points before watagans.
That could have ended really bad.
Where did you get the roll of plastic from? My car got nileated at watagans.
Cheers, Stuart

Yer mine did at Newnes the first time it may look crap but it saved the car heaps, i even clipped a tree on that hill climb and the flare coped it plastic helped you can still see were it hit but would have been allot worse without it,

Ill get some details up for you were I got it from.
