packeteer wrote:So last week I went to start the car for the first time since winter high country trip (3 weeks ago), and it would not go. After charging the battery, it still wouldn't turn over. So a roll start was tried with success.

Seems my starter has seized, so I've ordered an ebay replacement.

Also, I must have got some water in the cab with all the river crossings, so it STINKS!!!

Wheres the trip update and photo's cobba?

just a few of the pics, story to follow (getting stuck behind 20+ cars at the bottom of Blue Rag for 6 hours was not a hi-light)

So 18 months on how are you finding your truetrac rear?

I have been talking to diff shops about an elocker and a few recommended the truetrac instead.

yeah, it's good mate. not as positive locking as the old autolocker, but when you're on a hill and really need it, it comes through

might be a good option then. i'm getting quotes about half the price of an elocker

I do miss the feel and drive of a solid locked axle, but the trutrac still comes through when needed

it's a really tough call :)

so 4 years later...
I've rebuild the rear diff twice , both times I hadn't done any offroad work since the rebuild, and wore it in properly (barely drove 5000km on one build!) this last time I've installed an elocker (now dual elocker).

other than that, I've not done much else, averaged less than 10k a year until recently, and rarely go offroad.

I'm thinking about a long road trip next year, at least 3 months.

That's a while between updates. Fingers crossed your elocker is trouble free.
