I would have thought there'd be something visible on the CV, some sort of wear mark etc?

I'm definitely not a CV expert, but in general terms, anything different, like a worrying amount of slop that wasn't previously present means something is wrong. You need to find out what. May be obvious with the bits in your hands, or it may need driving loads to show up.

Could this possibly be coming from another case of bent diff bracket/lopsided/dropped diff housing ??

Agree with nice bike on the play has caused leakage. Is the slop up and down or in and out?
If up and down the outer axle bearing is probly buggerd. Or mayby the cv spline but I doubt it would have worn out before the bearing. Due to the movement you might have worn a groove where the seal sits on the shaft. Need to have it pulled out for a proper analysis

hey Chris, how's the NW treating ya?

I've done very little to the inside of the canopy, only adding floor mat foam squares to the floors and walls, also multiple tie down points.

between the cash flow issues and using the canopy for other things when at home, I just haven't done much to it. I'd like to add drawers with pull out table, more permanent lighting and put the fridge slide in, but that reduces its usefulness when not camping

the other issue I want to address at some point is the height of the tray, I had it built way to high, and will probably drop it 100mm

anyway, I'll go take some pics for ya :)

yeah, time to get my hands dirty
ps. I hope I haven't bent something, I have the MR diff brackets and a 2.5" lift, and usually drive like a Grandma

Some must be normal, unless my hilux came worn out...

Mine has always had a fair wobble if you grab it and use some muscle, I'm going to take a video of it so others can compare but at the moment I'm in mackay, hilux is in Brisbane, dog is in the Gold Coast and I start back at work in sydney in a few days..... So soon

well the original plan was to meet up with some friends and then do the Hay river track, but the boss lady wasnt keen, so we're doing an abridged version (and boys only)...
Longreach, Winton, Middleton, then offroad to Dajarra. next stop Boulia, then south to Birdsville, Haddon corner, Innaminka, Poeppel, then Sydney via shortest route
