That's more than a little concerning. Be interested to hear the diagnosis. It looks like maybe very little penetration of the weld.

belated updates:

replaced my Oricom UHF with an ICOM 450N. Installed in a similar location (behind the glove box). I reused the existing wiring, so nothing special to show. There's a noticeable improvement in sound quality and receive sensitivity.

I went down to Baileys Diesel last week and had my EGR + intake cleaned. Also had a retune. We've now got fuel and boost coming on earlier, resulting in more torque and better economy.

Also had a factory tour. They've got an impressive setup down there! The amount of coin spent on high end equipment is just staggering.

so 107k and and I did a mini service before the Christmas trip

Donaldson air filter
Stanadyne fuel filter
rear diff (nulon full synth)

also got round to blocking the egr (2x 1/8th holes)

EDIT: forgot to add that I had the alternator replaced by Mudgeeraba Auto Electrical on the Christmas trip. the old one was truly shagged, and now my battery is not to healthy :)

Hey Pack,
Seeking to draw on your experience...... :) :) :)
I was thinking about putting some 285/75-16 Nitto Trail Grapplers on my 2012 rig and was just wanted to know how your set up is working with the 295's and the +15 off set........I've got a 3" lift and Super pro adjustable UCA's so similar to your set up........probs go a +20 off set tho, just because it's easier to source in a 16. ;) ;) ;)

Epic build thread BTW........wish I never read that stuff from 1kd performance though    .....now I want that gear too...... :? :? :?
Cheers Richo

hey mate, sorry I haven't replied sooner, no email from the forum and I dont check this thread often.

the Nittos are great, but +15 is too positive, it scrubs on the chassis front and rear. 0 would be a better choice.
even with that offset, I've had to chop a fair bit out of my guards

anyway, quick update.

had 110km service done recently, had a low km Toyota cv put in to replace the one I broke over Christmas. Also replaced both front diff seals and the steering rack (again!). It was only replaced 12 months ago, thankfully it came with 18 months warranty, but there's still a few hours labour charge not included. bloomin expensive exercise this! :(

correction, the mechanic pulled the rack out and it was only weeping, so he put it back in :(

So last week I went to start the car for the first time since winter high country trip (3 weeks ago), and it would not go. After charging the battery, it still wouldn't turn over. So a roll start was tried with success.

Seems my starter has seized, so I've ordered an ebay replacement.

Also, I must have got some water in the cab with all the river crossings, so it STINKS!!!

Have you had the starter out for a look? it is very easy to open and clean contacts etc..
I had mine our while rolling around in 6" bulldust as the contacts where full of mud.

Only had a brief look so far, will pull it all apart this weekend. Either way, I'll have a spare :)

I bet it's just the solenoid all corroded! Takes ten mins and $0 to fix.
